No, I don't think it is a good idea to take a chance of introducing bacteria from the bathwater into the vagina.

I don't see the harm in it as long as the girl isn't too far along and is calm while she is being bathed. I have been bathing my pregnant females and have never any problems what so ever, but I would not bath a female who was in her last tri-mester just because I wouldn't want to stress her.

Oh, this is a question I just thought of, thank you for bringing it up!

Last trimester is good rule of thumb, I would think.

I had a girl, Isis, whom I simply couldn't keep out of water, especially whenever I took a bath!  If she hadn't had PKD, I would've bred her.

Can you imagine a Queen heavy with kittens, merrily swimming away, after she snuck into my bath water?

I bathe pregnant females, I also shave down their tummies so the nipples are easier to find for new borns (I also check the nipples are nice and clean) and shave around the fanny to make for easier, cleaner delivery and cleaning afterwards. Usually the females are shaved down any way before breeding, but before delivery I like to makes sure these two areas are good and short.

Linda boy I totally agree with the shaving!!!

I had shaved Winnie a couple weeks before delivery I think but wish i'd waited longer to shave her. I had a friend over and she helped to hold Winnie better so I could get it shorter and It made a BIG difference to new babies who didn't have their eyes open searching for a nipple.

I was to afraid to bathe Winnie at all during her pregnancy. After losing her first litter at 47 days I was afraid i'd stress her out to much and she'd lose the babies and later in the pregnancy I was afraid of the same thing and I didn't want to like LynMarie said introduce bacteria into the vagina.

Maybe on her next litter maybe I won't worry so much. Nah, I always worry!!

LOL

Shaving, a plus and must!  The bath, oooooo, never!  I will take a warm wash cloth or five to her belly though and her bottom if I can!  I had to learn the shaving trick on my own!  The long hairs can get twisted around the nipples and babies can not nurse!

First I would like to say hello to a fellow exhibitor and breeder from Portugal.
I am Diane of Diane's Pride; the Ragdoll breeder............

Okay as to the question, I always shave my girls once I have confirmation they are with kittens, usually right afer they pink-up.  being sure to shave from private area to the beginning of the ruff making sure inner sides the legs front and back are done also.

My reason for this is one to help with feeding the kittens but also God forbid anythng goes wrong from mating to birth, when being treated the girl would not need to be shaven at the Vett's office during a possible critical time.

To give baths to our cat I have a baby's bath (small plastic tub with hole) that is placed on top of our bath tub.  Instead of filling up the bath tub I wet the girl down give her two gentle washes with a gentle baby shampoo and rinse her completely.  At no time does dirty bath water come in contact with her vagina area and since my cats are accustomed to being bathed and blow dried they remain calm and quite.  this does not mean I do my pregnant girls alone, only with  help just in case and not during the third trimester.

SweetB, you can purchase the baby tub for about 5 to 10 euros in Jumbo, continent or Feira Nova.
