Bluie met. The whole trip started out with an catitude, we were leaving just as John got home. so of course , Bluie thought her daddy was taking her for a ride, he gives her a little kiss on her head and said bad mommy. Well, that was nice of him :x so I put her in her carrier in the car with me, She told me in so many cat words what she thought of me on the way to the vets.. we arrive and they are busy but mostly cats.. One lady sat there and I put Bluie's carrier on the bench next to me, I looked over and saw a kitty that look like Bluie's twin . He was a solid Blue like her. She said about 5 years ago in the middle of a cold winter she went to go out side and there he lay by her door, he was so cold he had ice frozen on his hair and chest. She picked him up and rushed him to Dr K at our animal hospital. They warmed him up slowly and fought a very tough case of pneumonia for three months , during that time she put ads in the papers, pictures of him up, and watched the papers, she called vet offices and shelters. no one was looking for him. He says he has been the best Persian a person could want and they figure him to be about 13 now. My heart broke when I heard his story but was happy with the out come. Poor boy. Bluie sat and watched him with interest.
Well, it came our turn to go in the office. While, we were there I had her check her eyes, her allegies were bothering her more. she had a blocked tear duct so we got some more meds. Then the tech came in an gave me my paperwork for the chip and explained the procedure. It seem fairly simple.. then Dr K came back in show me the chip, it looks like a tiny radio componet, not round but a tiny thin narrow strip about a 1/2 in or less long with little wires on each end. Not at all what I was expecting, then she showed me the needle they use to inject under her skin, the same size needle we use to give her sub q fluids.. , by this time, Bluie is eminating a low growl. gives me a look, Dr. K, turned her around rub her head, got a good handfull of loose skin between the shoulder blades, Bluie not doing anything but her low growl and in it went, fast, so fast I hardly knew she did it, it did not even faze Bluie at all, of course as long as you don't put something in her bum or take her blood she does not usually care. The tech came back in, to give me her eye drops. and stood about three foot from her, I smiled, she says this is as close as I get to the blue lethal weapon, she was the poor girl Bluie got last month, She swatted her good and gave her a good scratch.. Dr K, laughs, says she has the ole girl figured out. She has it timed so she cannot swat her.
Went out to the waiting room and the girls and Dr K, were talking about Bluie and how she has the fasted paw in the west. A gentleman says , she does not look like she could move that fast. they all said together, don't let her fool you, she is fast.. faster that fast, Bluie just looks like, keep your hands where they belong. so the procedure is simple, no blood, no fuss, and Bluie never even acted like anything was happened and has been fine and playful ever since. Dr K scanned her and it scanned out perfect. Now I have to regisiter her , she will be registered around the world. They told me some people get thier pets done but then do not regisiter them, now that is a duh, if you donot register them, no one knows they have a chip... so everyone, it is easy and not that expesive either , 35.00 .. Wow...great Bluie "twin" story!

I'm glad the procedure was nothing to the Princess!

I'm so glad your visit went well and the chipping was as easy on you (sometimes I think it's harder on US) as it did for Bluie!

I know the clinics and shelters around here will scan a lost animal immediately.  It should be one of the first things they do.

So, when does the "fasted paw in the West" get her cowgirl boots, badge and gun holster?

What a nice story of Bluie's twin. I'm glad this woman took him in her home. Bluie is such a character! I love hearing her antics. I think I will have to make an appointment for Midnight to be chipped since he is the most apt to try and get outside.

I so glad it worked out and that it didn't hurt or anything!

Now is this a chip that if someone finds her and they can scan her or is this also the gps where they can track her movements to locate her?

It's been a long day and just wanting to make sure!

Is there a monthly charge as well or just the initial $35.00.

Thanks

I was joking about her being a gps.. but the 35.00 includes everything , they put the chip in, they test it and then they give you a plastic ring to put on thier collar if you want to. also you get two stickers with the code on it, one you send to the Avid registar , for one pet it is 18.50 , a one time fee. also the cost of the chip  is a one time fee. if you have more than 3 pets you can register then all for a flat rate of 50.00 dollars, does not matter if its 3 or 10 fo them. This registers them all around the world.
She scanned her and it was so cute. beep beep and there she was. Not at all what I imagine, easier then a booster shot. She is doing great today.

Glad it went well and what a great story about her "twin" how lucky he was found in time and it sounds like he has a good home. Now how long will it take for Bluie to forgive you?
