I know my cats follow me from room to room, some give kisses or try to climb my legs...and then there is Baggy who is my lap boy -- I sit and in 2 secs he is in my lap!

I agree with the article completely.  A lot of people attribute attention from our pets to be directly related to food and the pets' desire for it, but how do you explain the dedication they show when their bellies are full?   I know my pets love me--some more than others--and anyone who observes behavior can see very clearly that there is a huge difference between fawning behavior and simple happiness to share our company.

Even though I put my furkids ahead of myself, I think their little worlds revolve around me and my Mom.  They are happy to see us, some a little too happy, they follow us, they seek us out for affection and interaction and not just for food.  

Do they love us?  I hope so because I couldn't so much as draw breath without them!

Cheesy I agree with that article too. My cats have both followed me around like I'm the Pied Piper. Brandy is always giving me those squinty eyes, purring and sometimes climbing into my lap for snuggles as he bumps his head into me. Midnight likes to climb in my lap and cuddle. He also knows when my car pulls in. He often shows me his tummy too. Yeah, I know not many cats like their tummy rubbed, but I admit I've rubbed his tummy. He doesn't mind and sometimes he plays with me when I do. He'll swat at my hair when I rub his belly or gives my hand little love nips all the while purring.

Aren't cats such interesting creatures?  I have 3 dogs as well and all of them are just as special as the cats...but cats are just more independent.  Skye our husky is a bit overbearing throwing her weight around but she never lets you forget she loves you.  Dagmar would protect me to the bitter end and Apollo loves his Daddy before me any day of the week....but does like to be with me when he isn't available.  Dags has laid by my mom's front door for two days barely eating or going out waiting on me to return when she watched her while we went on vacation.  But we were gone a week and she finally leave the door but my mom was very worried about her until she did.  But remember Dags and I were just us for many years before a man or cats came in the picture.

My boys (cats) are separated in my bedroom away from the girls while I am at work during the day and I would swear Baggy either knows my car or that it is just time for me to come home.  Our bedroom door is right by the front door and when I come in he starts to cry and scratch at the door to come out and then NEVER leaves my side for the night.  You can be sure if I go to one room it wont be long before he will follow!  Libby -- she will come and paw at me to pet her and interestingly enough so do everyone of her kittens with their new owners.  :lol:

Not sure I would know how to behave if I didn't have all these balls of fur.
