I need child locks on the kitchen cabinets!

That crazy Blackberry has figured out how to open the bottom kitchen cabinets!

And she does it so very weird!

Our bottom cabinets have one drawyer above them like for silverware. So she stands up on her hind legs and puts her front paws at the top of the door right under the drawyer and then she just kinda hangs there squirming and that seems to open the door! I watched her do it 3 different times and even dad saw the last time.

Most cats would probably take the easy way and just sit there and paw at the side of the door till it opens but not Blackberry!

She's so very weird sometimes!

I'm gonna have to stick the camera in the kitchen to see if she'll do it again!

Then i'll probably try to give her a little squirt with a water bottle other wise all three kitties will be getting in there! I don't want to encourage this behavior!

lol

Rory, my Egyptian Mau, gets in our cupboards too.  I've never seen her do it though.  One morning my Mother came and got me because she was sure there was some sort of mouse in there eventhough we've never had them before!  Nope...just Rory!

Could you bungee cord the cabinets for a little while?  Just long enough for Blackberry to give up.  Although, I don't really know a cat to give up as much as "wait it out".

Sam sits up on her haunches and wraps her paws around the drawer pull and, well, pulls!     She loves Bryan's sock drawer.    Keep the camera handy, Cindy!   We'd love to see a picture of the cute little sneak!  Cheesy

Some of mine paw at the sides like you expect. We do have one that is creative in her attempts to get into a room that has a door that is shut. We have door handles that are the lever types instead of doorknobs. She jumps at the lever until she manages to open the door. If you want to keep her out you have to lock the door. She is the rescue. The Persians all just sit there and look at you like "Well, aren't you going to open the door for me Slave?"

I had a black mix angora, Peanut when I was a child and she could open doors with the knobs on them, she would stand up on two hind legs and just keep turning the knob and butt it.
Bluie pats the side of the doors. but she can open drawers too. like Sam she pulls on them.. nothing else works she runs and rams the door.. the bathroom one .. that Blackberry is a smart girl for sure..

I think that we do not give our kittys the credit that they sometimes deserve.....they are extremely intelligent and resourceful!

Cindy, I hope you get a pic of that.  Very creative girl.  My kitchen cabinet doors do not have knobs or handles either.  Bonnie pulls them open from underneath and just lets them bang close.  The only thing I can do it put a fence or some barrier to keep her out of the kitchen altogether.  I'm sure she would jump it though.

   That is too funny Cindy! My Maine Coon, Mel, used to do that and he also opened doors and turned on our sink for fresh water. Midnight opens my lower cabinet doors so I put an elastic band over them which he hasn't touched since I did that. Brandy used to pull open the lower drawers in our kitchen counter top in one of our old apartments when he was a kitten and then he'd lay in the drawer. It was cute!

I have an older gal that will bang on the cabinet doors until they pop open enough for her to get a paw in and open it.

She will then let all the youngsters in the cupboad then shut the door...

....she'd prefer to be an only cat.

It is too funny watching her hang there! I wanna get a pic but I don't want to engourage her.

Right now I have the garbage can infront of that cabinet door so whe can't do it. She doesn't try with the other cabinet doors, just that one.

Our cabinets are pretty old and they basicly like a hidden handle and the top of the door and under the drawers.

I think dad did that on purpose when we were little to try and keep my brother and I outh of them when we were really little.

lol
