I have a very hard time giving Mr. Fluffy his regular sanitary clips, seems he just wants a hairy bum. He will try to bite and scratch me when I perform to shave him with a pair of clippers.

Here is my question: Instead of using clippers would it be safe to use the wife's hair removal cream to clean the area back there?

I wouldn 't, it is not formulated for cats.

please don't!  it will cause a chemical burn to the skin and is poisonous with ingestion if he licks the area.  i know the clipping can be so frustrating for your both. it helps to have someone help you by scruffing him (holding his neck skin) while you work. it will get easier for you and Mr. Fluffy over time and he'll get used to it. (even if the hair remover were safe, you'd have to hold him *longer* than you would to clip his bum because the cream has to sit on the hairy area for 5-10 min then be completely washed off.

Get a pair of rounded baby scissors and just cut the hair away.
It's less stressful than using a shaver on them.  Have someone hold
the cat and keep the tail out of the way so you can see what you are
doing.

Please do not use a chemical hair remover for all of the reasons the
other members have given you.

Good luck!

NO!  As the others mentioned it is not safe to use a chemical like this on our cats.  As Arlene mentioned using a pair of blunt nosed scissors is a good alternative to clipping with clippers.  I just want to mention that the safest way to do this is to pull the hair up in a comb and then clip with the scissors, that way you are sure to not cut skin.  I always do this.
