I have a very hard time giving Mr. Fluffy his regular sanitary clips, seems he just wants a hairy bum. He will try to bite and scratch me when I perform to shave him with a pair of clippers.
Here is my question: Instead of using clippers would it be safe to use the wife's hair removal cream to clean the area back there?

Get a pair of rounded baby scissors and just cut the hair away. It's less stressful than using a shaver on them. Have someone hold the cat and keep the tail out of the way so you can see what you are doing.
Please do not use a chemical hair remover for all of the reasons the other members have given you.
Good luck! Arlene

NO! As the others mentioned it is not safe to use a chemical like this on our cats. As Arlene mentioned using a pair of blunt nosed scissors is a good alternative to clipping with clippers. I just want to mention that the safest way to do this is to pull the hair up in a comb and then clip with the scissors, that way you are sure to not cut skin. I always do this.
