I have been reading the posts about combs and it all gets confusing to me.  I have a groomer who grooms Elvis, and I brush between and do the face stuff.

Well Linda posted several times about the combs that she uses and I started feeling guilty about my brush that I got from the vet.

I ordered the two combs and they came and first of all they are pretty? who knew?? and they feel great in the hand, but, I know you have to add the cat into the mix.

Elvis is not bad, he is just busy ... but, I combed his face and his ruff and down his back and he was fine and I got hair out, but, not the amount with my brush.

I decided that I was "oh horrors" going to do the tummy and the between the legs.. again he is not bad, I just can't quite decide how to position him to get this done, and he is not a doll.. giggle  Well, I proceed to comb his tummy and between his back legs and he looks beautiful, not one protest, well not about the comb, but to tell me that his legs didn't work that way...

He looks beautiful, I sprayed him with the Nova Pearls..and I am way happy with my new combs and would suggest to anyone that is looking for grooming aids to try the combs that Linda tells us about.

Ok, gals, now what were those new combs?   AND Judy what is Nova Pearls?

btw-- misha is a rag doll when I comb him.  I can flop him any which way and he just lays there.  LOL

Nova Pearls is a static/spray that is fine for cats - not harmful if they groom after using, it smells great not too smelly, and it really calms the coat down, and it is conditioning .... and the bad thing is that they have stopped making it.

I have some, and my groomer has some... sigh  I think that finding a replacement is going to be hard.

I have one thing now that she wants me to try that I will post.

Nancy, you should get at least one of the combs that Linda uses.. I just LOVE them.

I will ask her to put the info in this thread so that all of you will have access to it.

Well there are the greyhound combs of course, there are also pretty much the same from Chris Christensen and #1 all systems. You want a medium/fine 7 1/2" comb with 1" teeth for general use. A face comb 4-5" ,and I REALLY like this comb.....

http://www.showdogstore.com/1allsystems-d7fabulousdemattingcomb6inch2inchlongpins.aspx

I also like #1 all system pin brushes as they are smooth pins (no little ball on the end to pull out hair) the wood handle ones (can be found at website posted above). Chris Christensen also has these type brushes.

Everyone has their brand preference and price range of course. I like #1 all systems as they have combs and brushes with the longer tines/pins.

I must say that I dreaded "combing" Elvis I thought it would be much different than brushing him, and, it was.. he laid there and played with the other comb and let me comb him all over and not a "word" was heard... and he looked great for longer.

I bought the two combs, my groomer took one of them and I had to replace it.. and I recommend them highly..

Nancy, you will LOVE the combs!!

Thank you Linda!!!!

I hate that she is so nice and so sweet about helping us with products, things.. and I am going to steal her boy.

I didn't know that is what those combs are called, learn something every day. I have had a comb like that for 25 years   Lani will allow me to comb anywhere, Sparky will allow topside only, don't matter what you use

What size pin brush is recommended?  I use a CC stagger tooth comb on my Havanese, and it's fabulous, but HEAVY.  I want to get the right brush for Fergus.  I was looking at the #1 all systems that Linda recommended, but not sure what size is appropriate for cats.

Thanks!
