I was bathing Ginger Sunday and she lost so much fur...it was everywhere...including my mouth
During the actual bathing she was very good...it got to where she wasn't even trying to get away. But when I was drying her she was making this clicking sound and breathing really hard so I stopped before she was done worried about her heart.
Is it normal for her to lose so much fur because of the time of year or could it have been because she was too stressed?

I think you are just looking at shedding. You tend to notice it more when you bathe once in a while rather than every week - you are getting all the dead hair coming out. It's the time of year for our darlings to start blowing that coat!
As far as the noises she made when you were drying her - that could of been her displeasure with the dryer - and she could of been either cold from being wet or over heated from the dryer.

Yes sounds like she's just blowing her coat. It's that time of the year. That's why we just shave them down. Makes life so much easier on our grooming load and the house cleaning.

Thanks Linda! I bathe her once a month...she is really oily and could probably use it more often but I get worried about the murmur. She was mostly dry and I do try to alternate between the heated dry and cool and constantly move the dryer around.
It takes me about 2 hours from start to finish. I don't know how you do it with so many!

I confirm that it's time of the year for shedding - my 2 boys are shedding and with a boyfriend clean-freak it's not much fun to clean the house    . I thought something was wrong with my vacuum cleaner... no, with 2 vacuum cleaners because I just couldn't get all hair from the carpet  . And the whole couch is covered by hair  And hardwood floors, and tables, and everything else  .

You don't have to shave her just because she's shedding - you just have to comb a bit more often to keep loose hair from turning into matts.

Shedding is terrible here, it always is this time of year. I don't think I'd worry about her too much.

Karen, I had to laugh about the "even in the mouth" comment. A while a go I had a cold and bathed Misha. Made a not to self --- NEVER bath cat when you have to breathe through your mouth.
I am sure it is just typical hair loss. Like you I can't imagine giving misha a lion cut.

It is definitely that time of year. As Linda mentioned you might do better to bathe her more often, especially right now to get all the dead hair out.

Bathe her MORE???
I was so worried about stressing her out last time. I think maybe I should give her breaks during the blow drying.
Does anyone know how much stress a heart murmur can take? The vet said to watch for her chest to be huffing and puffing...if it gets to that point how do you settle them down?

The cat's coats is the only thing I like about winter  When Spring hits and they drop the hair they look like drowned rats until it cools off  I don't know anything about the heart murmur but it sounds like a good question for the Vet. As I've mentioned I don't do baths, too hard on mine. Good luck.
