Okay, dumb question I'm sure, but I was wondering what the actual "trio" were for a chocolate calico. Is it chocolate, orange and white? Or some other combo?
I hate that I'm even asking, I feel dumb. :?

Also, what is a shell chocolate calico, shell lilac calico, shaded chocolate calico and shaded lilac calico?

No pics to help show you what a Shell Chocolate Calico would look like.
Basically the chocolate, red & white is on the very end of the hair shaft (tipping). Color sprinkled over the body much like a Chinchilla Silver Persian.
Same for lilac shell calico, but in Lilac, Cream & White.

Shell's are lighter in color than Smokes. Far more white on the length of the hair shaft than a smoke.

Okay, so the "sprinkling" is in patches then? That sounds really pretty!
What about the Shaded vs Shell?

Yes.
Same applies to the shaded and shell.
Only difference is the amount of white on the hair shaft.
Shaded and more color, less white. Shell has less color more white.
It's like varying degrees of smoke with smoke having the lest amount of white on the hair shaft.

Okay, I get it now! Thank you so much.
So next questions:
Are those "rare"? How do you get one of those (what type of momma and daddy)? Is it a chocolate calico matched with a shaded silver? Hopefully it's not too complicated to get into, I'm just curious! Smiley

Thank you very much!  :fish:
Just wait till you see my newest baby girl Smiley
I really thought she's a chocolate patched tabby bi color because of these 2 red flashes between her eyes and ears. Now that she's been here for a few days I suspect she's Not patched but instead has a strong contrast of color with her tabby markings. None the less, she's still exactly what I wanted Smiley

LOVE that odd-eyed chocolate calico baby of yours Ceylon!  I will look forward to seeing your new baby's picture in the future.   Regardless of whether she is a chocolate patched tabby bi-color or a chocolate calico I'm sure she is absolutely gorgeous.  I'm glad to hear she's exactly what you wanted. Cheesy
