I wouldn't give my cat raw fish, there may be bacteries, germs, whatever - who knows... Maybe some fish that they use to make sushi is o'kay but I just don't take any risk. Also, if you give your cat raw fish, his urine and his breath may smell not very good, not talking about his chest hair if you don't use coffee filter or something to cover it.

I give Julian cooked (microwaved in water for about 4 minutes) fish all the time - salmon, tuna, catfish, whatever (variety). Lately I mix it with raw meat or cooked chicken and sometimes I add oatmeal. I always make sure there is no bones.

But if you give salmon or/and tuna to your cat often, you have to add taurine into his food, it is important. I bought Felovite II with Taurine paste in Petsmart, and I add it to Julian's food when I give him fish.

I think you can google it - I read it in many articles on cats food and my vet told me the same when I told him Julian was on "natural" diet.

Somehow salmon and tuna absorb (or something like that, sorry, English is not my native language) taurine, and taurine is a very important component of cats nutritional balance. If a cat doesn't have enough taurine, he may get blind or get problems with heart.

Cats food has enough taurine but if you give fish, you have to take care of this nutritional balance (sorry for my English:)). You can get taurine in powder, pills, whatever, I just chose to use paste because I saw it on the shelf of Petsmart:).

Since I give my cat only natural food, I care much about nutritional balance and I have to count this and that, read literature etc. But it's my own "cockroaches" in the head:))))(LOL) that they do not make cats food from fillet mignon and I want my kitty to have the best:).
