We have bought another Persian kitten, she is chocolate calico good flat face we named her Fiona.. She is about 5-6 weeks old?there are two main issues that I m concerned.

1.   She is having lots of water in her left eye
2.   She has a bald spot under her chin (ring worm)
She is extremely active and purring all the time. She is so affectionate that I can?t describe.
Please help with both issues, Pics are ready but dont know how to post

First, this kitten (if she is a persian) is entirely too young to have been taken from her mother. Persians are a slow to develop breed and really need to be kept with their mothers til, at the very very least, 12 weeks.

At 5 weeks my kittens are only just starting to try food on their own. The patch on her chin could be ring worm or it could just be worn from nursing on her mother. It needs to be checked as ring worm is very contagious and can be passed to other animals and people. I'm going to guess this kitten has not been isolated, so your other cat may get it also if it is ring worm.

You need to very carefully monitor this kitten's weight every day. A kitten at this age has no reserves and even a slight weight loss could be deadly

The watering eye could be the start of an eye infection, I would have a vet check this out also.

Also, another reason for isolating this kitten, at this age it is very vulnerable as it is no longer getting immunity from it's mother and is too young for vaccinations - she should not be around your other cat until she is vaccinated.

I know many people believe only VERY young kittens can "bond" and nothing is further from the truth. Getting a kitten a few weeks older that is properly weaned, properly socialized and vaccinated will give you many more years of enjoyment.

A breeder that would let a kitten go this young is just selling you trouble.

Please get this kitty to a vet for the problems you are already having and please keep a close eye on her.

Thanks for the reply. I know she is extremely young and vulnerable ?but pets seller here r like this and they sell the kittens at very young age. I will take her to vet ASAP.. the watery eye she only have in the morning, when I wipe it off the for the full day she doesn?t have..I gave her bath yesterday?..my other cat had ring worm Problem and vet suggested canistine cream for him so I am applying same to her?.

Please keep us updated.  If Fiona looks like any of the FultonBlue kitties, I'm sure she's beautiful. I'm glad she'll be able to see the vet soon.  One thing I learned is that cats will purr when they are in pain and distressed, not just when they are happy.  It's an instinct to try to comfort themselves.  Keep a close eye on her. I hope you can post a picture at some point of both your kitties..

She's a chocolate calico??  If Fiona is a copy of the beautiful cat on the left in Linda's signature photo, she can't possibly be a chocolate calico. :?  That kitty of Linda's is a brown tabby... or if you were talking about the kitty in her avatar picture that would be a flame point Himalayan.  Chocolate calicos have patches of chocolate, red & white.  Sounds like the breeder of your kitten doesn't know colors/genetics very well.

It's so very sad to see a baby taken away from their mom & siblings at such a very young age. Sad  I know it's not your fault as this seems to be common practice in some countries.  However, reputable breeders here in the United States do not allow their babies to leave their care until 12 weeks minimum.  I prefer to keep mine until 14-18 weeks of age.

Please do take her to the vet ASAP to ensure she is 100% healthy.  I wish you the best of luck with Fiona and we would all love to see photos of her.

I agre with Fulton Blue. That kitten is way too young to get separated from mum..I hope your kitten wont have behavioral or social problems later on as she did not have the chance of learn enough socialisation from mum..litter using problems, agressive behavior problems later often turn up because of too early separation.Mines aint go to their new home until at least 13 weeks old...more than double of your kittens age...And it is not true that, younger the kitten better the bonding.I think lots of us knows that :lol:Vet visit is important for your kitten, also the food you giving her too,I would give her some formula to drink with her meals.Be very careful about treating her with anything other than your vet says!(for her not for your others as they are grown cats, she is young and very sensitive..) Good luck!Katy
