I'm a bit concerned when you say "peeling off her skin". I'm hoping you mean that you can pull on the tufties and they just come right out??? I highly recommend the greyhound style comb rather than a brush. Brushing only helps the top coat not the mats or the undercoat. If it's so bad that the mats are actually pulling on her skin and leaving sores/redness please take her in to get the lion cut. Once she's cut you can reestablish good grooming habits with her. I agree, if she is not into beeing groom, it may be better to have your vet or a groomer, do her this time. When the fur or mat come off, does it leave the area with a bare spot? I would have your vet check her out, sometimes just stress will do this? good luck Pat
