Autumn is very sick. I took her to the vet today and they did blood work and there were no white blood cells but her red blood cell count was very low. After much debate we decided to put her on Prednisone and Doxycycline. She was fine until yesterday. She became very lethargic and stopped eating and drinking. I have also begun to give her 6 ml of water every hour or so and will keep trying to give her wet food. My focus is to keep her alive, the kitten is secondary. If anyone has any clue on what this could be, please let me know. My vet has no clue and I can't afford to run more tests and blood transfusion.

Are you sub-qing the fluids or giving them by mouth? Did the vet say she was dehydrated? You may want to give her some pedilyte also it can help with electrolytes and make her a bit perkier. If this is some type of infection (low white blood count means she's not fighting it off- low red blood count sounds anemic) hopefully the antibiotics will kick in and you should see improvement by tomorrow. If she's not eating you may want to syringe some baby food into her. What you are wanting to do is keep her strength up until the antibiotics hopefully kick in. And she's still pregnant right? Did the vet feel the babies moving at all?

Linda - She is anemic and she was not dehydrated. I have been giving fluids by mouth and just fed her by syringe canned food watered down. She does seem to have perked up a little. Yes, she is pregnant. She did not feel the kitten moving. She said that she had a hard time feeling it, but we did see one. I don't hold out much hope for kitten but really hoping that Autumn makes it. The vet was amazing! She called Michigan State Unv. to find out more information on what to do and what could be wrong. They were all in agreement that this course of action is the best. They all said that it is rare but could be just anemia.
Thank you all for your thoughts and prayers!!!!

Thank you all so much!!! I have given Autumn 2 doses of her medication and I am force feeding her and giving her water. She seems to be holding her own with no decline. I thought this afternoon she seemed better, but tonight she is the same, no improvement. I will see how she is in the morning. I will be sure to give her hugs and kiss from all of you. Please continue to pray that she turns a corner soon.
