Oh Michele, that's fantastic news!! Cheesy  I'm so happy to hear that Autumn is home where she belongs and that she is doing so well.  I hope she has a speedy recovery and I'm sure she will be very happy living her life as a spoiled pet kitty.

Thank you Tracy. We just can't part with her because she has been the foundation of my cattery and our first breeder. She is why Autumn-Purrs is here.
The only issue now is that I have to start all over again. I now only have one male and one female. I feel like I take one step forward and 4 steps back, but I will make it.

So glad to hear she is responding and doing so well. Guess it's her time to get spoiled and pampered. Cheesy  Hope she continues to do well and gets fully recovered.

Michele, I'm so happy for you that Autumn is back home where she belongs, and is feeling so much better.
I'm so sorry you have to have her spayed and start over, but the bright side is that you still have her and she is giving you purrs!
Continued good wishes for a full recovery go to her from me, along with many kisses and hugs Smiley

Purrs,
Joan

Hi Michele,

glad that she is doing better.  Who ever said breeding was easy, it seems like you take one step forwards and 2 backwards sometimes.

I happened to come across this posting and read what was happening to your kitty and her babies. I am glad she is better now, I know what it feels like when your loved animal cat or dog has a medical problem and it doesn't get much improvement, at least for a while. You are frantic. Although the problem is corrected and she is on her feet now feeling better, you have to wonder if she, like some women that are preg, have diabetes. Or with the anemia, which is a low red blood count, what was the cause? Usually it is a loss of blood either vaginally or somewhere in her intestinal tract. Because the white blood count was low means that there wasn't a bacterial infection. If the white blood cell count was really low for a cat, then the cat would have a low immunity. And then you have to think about Leukemia. I would still have the vet rule out these other major problems to insure she won't get it again down the road. By the way, I lived in MI for years in the Ludington and Muskegon area. Now I live in TN. I was a nurse for years and my thoughts on the matter are from the human aspect, although there is not much difference from the animal world and the human world with regard to medicine.

The vet said that Leukemia could be a possiblity but I have no idea how. She has been tested twice and both times were negative. All the other kitties were tested when they got here.  :? The vet said that it could be in the bone marrow but again, how.?
She is doing better on the medication and they want to see how she does when she goes off of them. I would say with getting better on medication that it still has to do with the babies.
If it is Leukemia then I will be throwing in the towel. That will be the end of my breeding program. I can't even bare to let my mind go there. Sad

I sure hope it isn't leukemia for your sake. I know it would devastate me too.

Before you fret, a LOT of vets will try to catorgize anything wrong with a cat as either leuk or FIP. If you have tested your cats, they don't go outside she can't have it. The fact she lost one litter, struggled with one now this leads, me to believe more it's some type of uterine infection. I would however also consider putting your boy on a round of antibiotics before breeding him again. Sometimes they can be the source of the infection.

I am glad and relieved she is now doing okay.
