 My cat's name is Oliver.  I noticed he wasn't eating and always sitting by the water bowl.  A trip to the vet we went.  X-rays did not reveal much, so off to the emergency vet for an ultrasound.  He has lots of cysts throughout his liver and kidneys with a thickening of the intestine and stomach.

A change of diet has been recommended and will be adhered to.  Can anyone suggest a food brand or something they may have done to help their cat?

First let me say I am sorry to hear that your sweet Oliver has been ill.
I have always fed mine a good quality brand of food as oppose to an
off the shelf grocery store type of food.  I'm not sure that the cysts would
come from a type of food but if the vet says to change what you are feeding
him them I would get a good quality food and change it over slowly.  Add a
little to his food and then more each day until the new food has completely replaced the old.
I use Wellness and Evolve dry foods.  As a treat they get a can of
wet (Fancy Feast) in the morning.  I'm sure that others can tell you what has
been successful for them.

How old is Oliver and what have you been feeding him?  I do hope that this
change in his diet will help him recover.

When Sasha was diagnosed with kidney disease, the vet put her on prescription dry K/D formula made by Hills.  Best wishes to Oliver. :paw:

Did the vet recommend a prescription diet?  If so, I would use that for the time being anyway. Best wishes and hugs to Oliver.  Hope he's better soon!

Kudos to you for observing the changes in Oliver's behavior and doing something about it.  I know it's tough when the vet tells you there's an issue, but at least now you know how to help him.

One of my senior girls is going through some issues and the vet perscribed a new food.  The transition was fairly easy and I hope it will be the same for Oliver.

No advice on food brands, but your vet should have some ideas for you.  I also love Google because I can research things like food for cats with kidney issues and take the info back to my vet.

Hope Oliver is feeling better!

Oliver is feeling a little better.  By that I mean he is eating and finally pooing.  I think I will need to keep giving him the medication that coats his stomach, so he can eat.
Oliver will be 10 in June and had a very rough start in life.  His former owner kept him in the basement for the first 5 years of his life because he pooed all over the place.  I had no such problems with the little bugger when I got him.  He had free roam of the house after a week of adjustment for him.
Right now none of my cats are much into wet cat food and dry food is becoming a challenge too.  They are eating Fancy Feast dry food.  I did have them all (7 kitties) on low ash diet.
Thanks again for the responses.
