As most of you have read we have been dealing with the protozoan parasite  Feline Tritrichomonas Foetus since the girls were kittens, 2 1/2 yrs. This is becoming more prevalent in Catteries and shelters and is often the cause of chronic diarrhea and loose stools. It is often mis-diagnosed as Giardia or IBD and therefore not properly treated. I thought it might be helpful to list links with the most up to date information on this.
I think that all cat owners should become familiar with this as it is an emerging problem in cats and Vets are not yet up to snuff on this.

This is a guide put together by Jody Gookin at NCSU, she has been the researcher on this disease and had numerous grants to study it.

Fabcats has information under the breeders section
www.fabcats.org

Dave at Highgait Cattery has worked with Dr. gookin and co-authored the guide

I encourage all to learn about this, most cats can be treated.

It has only been known for about 10 years, which is relatively new. What is sad is that so many Vets are not getting education on this so cats are not being properly diagnosed and treated.  We have been working with Dr. Gookin (our Vet has) and even though she is the number #1 authority she still has to tell us she doesn't have anwsers to many of our questions yet, there just aren't a lot of answers. Most of the work has been done on finding something to kill it. Not much for the cats that can't tolerate the treatment like mine, which are the minority by the way.
