Coco, as I have said many times, is an extremely big boy.  I have tried different boxes, looking for a box that was not only uncovered, but had enough room for Coco to move around in.  I ended up buying the "Petmate Giant Litter Pan".  This box is supersized and has so much room.  It even has a side compartment so that you can put the scoop, or anything else you'd like.  It holds up to 30lbs of litter   .  You will love it if you have a big boy like Coco, or a multiple cat household.    :flower:  :paw:

I have two litter maids and they do a good job.  I like the lided containers for taking out the litter

I like the big Rubbermaid storage containers that I cut a hole in the side shaped like this

in.  They cost about $15 each and come with covers if I want to use them.  They take a lot of litter at a time, but as far as size, they work for a multiple cat house.  I also don't feel so bad pitching them after a year because they aren't expensive.

Tosca uses a regular (but very colourful) Van Ness Litter Box.  It's the large sized one which measures 18 3/8" Long X 14 7/8" Wide X 5" High.  He is a small cat (6 1/2 pounds) but I think anything less than the large box would be uncomfortably small.

These litter boxes come in nice colours ... royal blue, cherry red as well as plainer colours so lots of choice.

These litterboxes are reasonably priced and available at places like PetSmart, PetCetera, Pet Valu and even Walmart.

They're quite durable too.

I absolutely love the litter robot. At $299 it is pricey...I never thought I would spend this kind of money on a litter box but, but it is worth every penny!  It cleans automatically but doesn't use the rakes that other automatic boxes have that can get clogged up.  The waste drops into a drawer that can be lined with standard/normal kitchen trash bags or even used grocery sacks. There is absolutely NO SMELL until you open the drawer to empty. The charcoal filter takes care of all that. It comes ready to go: put base down, put the globe on, fill, and plug in and it is good to go! My kittens took to it right away- I put it next to the old box and they developed a clear preference for the litter robot.  You can put the box on auto- it will clean 7 minutes after the cat gets out or you can choose to turn that feature off and push the auto button when needed.

I purchased the Petmate Deluxe Hooded Litterpan a few months ago and I really like it!  It's made with microban which is supposed to help resist stain and odor causing bacteria.  I use the plastic liners that are sold for it so clean up is a breeze.  It also has a little filter in the dome.  Not sure if that does so much to contain odors as the hood itself, but I don't smell anything and that's always nice.  The only drawback is having to pop the lid to scoop.  It's pretty easy to take on/off though.  The larger model is excellent for my big girl!  Plenty of room to turn, do her thing and NO risk of lousy aim like with smaller pans.
