I am new to breeding, not showing yet, but would like to.  Have a question.  I have found a blue/white bi-color to purchase, but I am afraid the color genetics won't mix with my flame point stud.  Is this a bad idea?

I'm not a breeder, but recently read a great article on persian color genetics that may help...

Personally I think it is a bad idea for a new breeder to mix bi-colors and himmies together.  If the bi-color is CPC (color point carrier) you could get bi-color pointed babies or Himalayans with white.  They are very beautiful cats, but not the best route for a newbie to take since they can only be shown as AOV (Any Other Variety) in the CFA at this time.  Since you already have a flame point stud I think it's best to look for a Himalayan female or a solid colored or parti-color CPC Persian.

I myself have produced a tortie point & white Himalayan from a breeding of my retired seal point Himalayan male and my calico CPC Persian, however I was intentially trying to produce this particular color and have been breeding since 2000.

To keep in mind also, not all associations will let you register that breeding.

I know CFA does allow you to register kittens from this breeding.  They can be CFA registered w/breeding rights, but they can only be shown as AOV.  I'm not 100% sure about any of the other cat associations.  I think TICA does allow the bi-color himmies to compete for titles.  Someone please correct me if I'm wrong.

Thank you so much for the advice!  I think I will hold off on her, and actually found someone local to do some bartering with on a beautiful blue tortie point.  I will post pics soon!
