This doesnt pertain particularly to any colour, but thought I'd ask here. Smiley
When visiting various cattery websites, I've sometimes seen kittens described as "show".. and others as "top show".

I know the distinction between pet, breeder, and show quality, but as a pet owner only, I've never known what the difference in these two classifications actually is. Top show would obviously be more desirable.. but how this is determined?

I wondered if someone could  clarify this for me - just for my own information?
Thanks in advance. I love learning new things about all facets of our beautiful persians. :flower:

Top show quality is usually reserved for a kitten/cat that is campaignable for a regional or national win.. would grand in 1 or 2 shows when presented in condition.  It is VERY difficult to buy a top show silver or golden.  They are so rare that most breeders will keep them for themselves.

Show quality, to me, is a cat that has no disqualifying faults and is competitive in the ring taking many best of breeds when up against competition.  Will usually grand in a few to several shows.  Any cat that is not competitive in the ring (but has no disqualifying faults including insufficient merit) is breeder quality in my opinion.

Fran, thank you for asking. I wanted to know the same thing!  And thank you Tracy for making your response so easy for us pet owners to understand.
Best wishes,
Joan
