I sometimes wonder what's going through that little pee brain in Spikes head.  He was out in the shop and found a dead lizard inside the fan, he was determind to get this dead lizards attention.  He batted at it, meowed at it and ran back and fourth for about an hour trying to get the dead lizards attention.  I was laughing for quite some time watching the dumby try to get at the lifeless lizard.

     Sounds like he and my Midnight share a common brain. Midnight was yowling at a dead moth trapped between the storm window and inner window. Midnight's not exactly the sharpest tool in the shed, but he's loveable.

I went to our local authority on black cats (Inkling) and told her of Spike's spirited curiosity. She simply recommended Spike is probably old enough to know that hunting something dead is easier than bringing down living prey. She also told me that lizards are known for their patience and cunning and that is often mistaken by humans for sleeping, lollygagging or simply being dead.

Good info, but I think it's more that he's just a dumby.

Okay Spike so Tyler says that what you have to do is turn the fan on and that will make the
little lizard move.  Make sure that your Mom is watching all of this and she will think that it was alive
when you got it.
