The Pros of a Probiotic

Probiotic Packet

Persian owners spend so much time caring for their kitties on the outside -- combing, bathing, and fluffing. It's easy to sometimes forget that the inside might need extra attention as well. A Persian's gastrointestinal health can become thrown out of balance from a myriad of outside factors, such as stress, allergies, diet, or parasites just to name a few. A high-quality probiotic can be effective in restoring the balance of microflora in the digestive tract.

Never Ignore Lethargy in Your Persian Cat

Persian Kitten

Most cats have plenty of energy to spare. If you notice that your cat isn't being as energetic as usual, then it may mean that something is wrong with him. Feline lethargy is characterized by general listlessness and inactivity, with some not responding to lights or sounds like usual. It can be brought on by various health conditions. An Owner's Guide to Anemia in Cats

Blood Cells

Anemia in cats is a condition that occurs when there is not enough hemoglobin or red blood cells produced. It is not a disease, but merely a symptom of an underlying condition or disease. So, what exactly causes it?

Causes
Many things can cause this condition. The kidneys are responsible for producing hormones that stimulate red blood cell production. So, kidney disease is one of the most common causes. Parasites such as ticks, fleas, and hookworms are another leading cause.

Tigger, the Backyard Cat

Backyard

Of all the cats I've rescued in my life, Tigger stands out as special. I met him shortly after we moved to the area. I had gotten to know my neighbors that lived behind me, who had two daughters, ages eight and ten. The daughters had an outside-only cat. Their mom and dad seemed to think of animals as disposable objects, especially cats. Of course, their cat was not spayed, so she had kittens. The poor mother cat had no place to have them, so she was literally dropping them as she walked across the back yard.

Nasal Discharge In Cats

Syringe

In cats, chronic viral nasal disease develops from one of two viruses involved in upper-respiratory tract diseases. Both the feline rhinotracheitis virus (FVR) and feline calici virus (FCV) are extremely contagious. Clinically, the difference between these two viruses is unnecessary for diagnosis and treatment.
