Eye-Cleaning Tip (This information came from Amy C.) Eye drainage can be very troublesome for both Persians and their owners. Because the Persian's nose is so small, the tear ducts are almost non-existant. To clean a cat's eyes, you can use a sterile cotton ball and warm water. You can even used Q-tips if you are careful. A good solution that can be mixed up at home is an eighth of a teaspoon of boric acid and 8 oounces of water. Shake it up and wet the cotton ball. Be careful not to get too much boric acid because it can irritate your kitty's eyes. |
How to Remove Cat Urine Odors (This information came from Joanne S., Darlene C., and Jen M.) Hard to believe that such a beautiful animal can leave such a nasty odor. If an accident does occur, the first thing you should do is check to see if your cat is displaying signs of UTI or other illness. A visit to the vet is wise just to be safe. Nonetheless, if your kitty urinates on your carpet or furniture, you must be creative when cleaning it. One suggestion is a product called Nature's Miracle. Apparently, it is fantastic at removing urine and it can be purchased at pet stores. Simply pour it on and cover the area with aluminum foil until it dries. It will take about 3 days, but the smell should be gone. Another bright idea is to use white vinegar. On the carpet, you can sprinkle bicarbonate of soda powder or borax powder - it keeps pets and kids away, too. It will absorb the urine. Once it hardens, you can lift it up easily. Then use the vinegar. It should neutralize the odor very well. |
