Help me please! I have a 2 year old male persian that I have raised for over a year. This past Thanksgiving he was "with his first girlfriend" Since the first week of December she is no longer at our home. For the past three days he has been using the bathroom all around our house. Pee-pee everywhere. WHY??????? He is stinking us out! If you have a answer or a solution please respond ASAP. Thanks, Pat |

January is the season of LOVE-at least for cats LOL. Now that your boy has enjoyed his first taste of the fairer sex he wants more! He is spraying to announce to any close by ladies that he is available and to warn off any competing males -even if they are not in the house or close by. If you want to keep this boy as a breeding male you will have to confine him to a room or a stud cage. As long as he is a whole male with raging hormones there is not much you can do to stop the behavior because it is normal for mature tom cats. Neutering may stop this behavior once the hormones are out of his system. Unless he is a high quality male and you are planning to keep females available for breeding on a regular basis I highly recommend you get this boy neutered ASAP. A male without a harem of girls gets very frustrated and unhappy. The sooner you neuter him the higher the probability that he will stop spraying. Also the urine of a neutered male does not smell bad once the hormones and pheromones are out of his system. A neutered male cat is a happy cat and so is his owner!!
