Severe reaction to flea shampoo deej 2007-11-15 20:16:57
I took my cat to the groomer at 5pm this evening(actually 2 cats) . At 7 I get a call from her saying she's taking my cat to the vet due to a severe reaction to flea shampoo. My cat is now fightng for her life. Her temperature is not even registering on the thermometer. She was given valium and is under a heat lamp with iv's in her.She is 5 years old and only weight 4.5 lbs. Hence the name Itty Bitty. The vet says we will not know for 12 to 18 hours if she will make it or not.Has anyone else been through this. I don't want my cat to die. She is my baby.I don't even know how she got fleas she is NEVER outdoors. My other cat was given the same treatment and is home doing fine. Please tell me my cats going to be okay!

I wish I could give you some words of comfort... But I don't want to lie to you. Sometimes cats just have a bad reaction to flea medication. Only time will tell. It is good and important that she is a the vet... Hooked up to an iv, that way she can get plenty of fluids to help flush out whatever it is she reacted badly to... My prayers are with you that your baby will pull through and be OK.

Best of luck,
Brandy
