male cats will do that. We actually had a feral cat enter our washroom down cellar when we had Bear. I am the first one to help a feral, trap, spay and neuter and what they need but some first generation ferals are and can be dangerous. They are the ones born in the wild and survive. When I moved in with John , Bear came to, he actually brought her over first.. He lives in the country and said she could go out, It made me nervous but she was always good. He put in a cat door in one of the cellar doors, with a plank from there to the floor so she could go in and out on her own when we were at the cottage. One time we came home and I noticed fur all over the floor near my laundry room down there. I checked Bear and she looked ok. a week later Bear came flying up the hill and in the house. She had been bitten in the arm and shoulder.. I took her to the vet , they gave her a booster rabies to be safe, antibiotics, Dr K said to be careful it sounded like a first generation male feral, very agrressive and dangerous. I sat upstairs watching TV and heard something down stairs. Bear was with me resting, I went quietly to the door and there he was, a huge red tom feral, looked be about 5 0r 6 years old. He saw me and did not run out the cat door, he proceeded to come at me, he started to grow. I quickly closed the door and called John and animal control I open the door to see where he was, he was walking around our family room down there, looking for poor little Bear, she was spayed, he just wanted to kill her. It was his territory , I tried to shoo him away but he came after me.. I shut the door again. John came, and said , Pat , look, he ripped Bears hair out again , he must have did it last night, He grabbed some heavy gloves and a huge bucket and went down , the cat came after him, fearing he may carry disease we waited for animal control. The went down and used a dart and took him to the vets. I am sure he was put down. he was dangerous to all of us and the children and animals near by. We checked our family room floor closer as we knew Bear had not been out since she was hurt. and never again after that. It was rabbit fur, and part of its body, the cat had dragged it in, they told us if they get mad enough they will break windows to get in.. that was the only time I was afraid of a feral cat.. so do be careful.
