I was thinking about the first records people may have had. Mine was 'Puff the Magic Dragon' and I made a record player to play it on. Now how about you?

Mine was Puff, too, Ian! That song still makes me tear up when I hear it. Good old Peter, Paul, and Mary......

I had hand me downs from my teenager brother when I was younger...but my very first record that was truly mine that I can remember (besides the childhood plastic records like Old MacDonald had a farm, was a record my sister in law bought me when I went shopping with her downtown, was Norman..a '45. Remember?..Norman..oooh a oooh a Norman, Norman my love...( I think she bought it for me cause her hubby, my brother..name is Norman

The lyrics :-)

Norman, ooh, ooh, ooh, ooh, ooh, ooh, ooh, ooh, ooh, ooh
Norman, hmm, hmm, hmm, hmm, hmm, hmm, hmm, hmm, hmm
Norman, Norman, my love

Jimmy called me on the phone but I was gone, not at home
Cuz I was out parked all alone with darlin' Norman
Bill invited me to a show but I said no, cannot go
There's a dress that I've got to sew and wear for Norman

Norman holds me close to him, Norman kisses me and then
Norman knows my heart belongs to him and him and only him, oh

Norman, ooh, ooh, ooh, ooh, ooh, ooh ohh, ooh, ooh, ooh
[ From: http://www.elyrics.net ]
Norman, ooh, ooh, ooh, ooh, ooh, ooh ohh, ooh, ooh, ooh
Norman, Norman, my love

Joey asked me for a date, he wanted to take me out to skate
But I told Joey he would have to make rangements with Norman

Norman is my only love, Norman's all I'm thinking of
Norman gives me all his lovin', kissin', huggin', lovey-dovin'

Norman, ooh, ooh, ooh, ooh, ooh, ooh, ooh, ooh, ooh, ooh
Norman, hmm, hmm, hmm, hmm, hmm, hmm, hmm, hmm, hmm
Norman, Norman, my love

    Joan! I remember that one. :D
One of my very first records was, "Bye Bye Love, by the Everly Brothers! I played it over and over. And at one Christmas before I was even in high school, I was so excited to get a Johnny Mathis Christmas Album and a thing called,a record player? that played 45's and 78's
.
I later bought Peter Paul and Mary, Bob Dylan and Joan Baez. :D
I remember those little yellow records for kids too.

Here you go Joan.   Norman and I'll be singing all night. :?

My first records were my dads 78s of Annie Get Your Gun and Showboat and lots of Mario Lanza. :D My first 45 I stole from my sister - Rock Around The Clock by Bill Haley and the Comets. The first one I got for myself was Davy Crockett by Fess Parker.

I really wasn't much into buying records, as my older brother had them all, and I could just borrow them to play on my littler record machine..
He's a 50's teen, I'm a 60's teen, so once the Beatles and The Beachboys hit the scene, I then starated buying albums...

I remember once he won a contest on the radio station that netted him 50 "45's! Included in the bunch were Purple People Eater..and Do you Wanna Dance..I used to play those over and over :)
And Tomi...we had the Davy Crockett one as well!!

Macaroni the Little Pony. I can still hear it now. My Mom kept it and I think I still have it packed away somewhere! I think Puff the Magic Dragon may have been first tho if not it was definately 2nd!
