I was bought up on Buddy Holley so that is the first thing that I thought of when you said Peggy Sue.

I know the song, all the words, and have the record. I think that makes me officially a geezer.

Well, I could sing all the song lyrics, I know.. so guess I'm the O.G. club too hon. .Do you have the actual vinyl record Tomi? ( making a big comeback apparently)

Joannie... what memories you brought back with Chantilly Lace!. :flower: Talk about a blast from the past... :)

Susan. I also am so suprised - not at all what I'd thought. Partly because of the movie "The Buddy Holly Story", which isnt "that" old.. 80's maybe.. and still shown on tv occassionally.( as Joan said.. there's also "LaBamba" .... life story of Richie Valens.

And yes Ellie, you're right. :paw: The classic hit song "American Pie" was referring to the loss of these young rising stars in the line "The day the music died'.
Has been quite a number of musicians who've sadly lost their lives in plane crashes since of course. :(

I'm 30, and I immediately thought of the song. :)

"My Peggy Sue-oo-oo!"

Really Tracy? See.. that suprises me. Perhaps I should have bumped that age up somewhat, haha.

Yes, I was referring to the famous Buddy Holly song.
I guess the name is only iconic to those of us who knew it back in the day.. too far-removed for younger generations.
Boy...do I feel old.

So I ask my mom and she does remember this song from when she was a kid, so it doesn't surprise me that I had no clue. As a very young kid in the 70's, I grew up listening to Zeppelin, The Stones, Styx, etc.

My kids are in thier '40's and when they were kids, whenever "old time" rock and roll,
"50's & "60's music (everything from Buddy Holly to Elvis to The Beatles)(and everything in between)
would come on the radio....they were always so impressed that I knew all the words as
I would always sing along..
