I can't believe I can be soooo dense at times.

And I feel sooo bad that I may have caused Maggie some discomfort.
For several days, Maggie would nibble a bit but then would stop eating. Occassionally after syringing her, she would shudder and sit like a meatloaf. She never showed any signs of vomiting so I attributed this to pain of her eye removal and gave her some pain medication. Yesterday and today, she would eagerly eat food off the tip of the syringe without me doing anything. For lunch just now, she ate a few ml's short of 3 syringes all by her self! She also stopped shuddering and was wandering around right after feedings. Why?
It comes down to the timing of the oral antibiotics. Previously she would get her antibiotics as I was getting out of bed. Then I would feed the herd, drink my coffee, and feed her. The time was around 30+ minutes from antibiotics to food. For the past 2 days, I got up, fed the herd, fed Maggie, and then immediately gave her the antibiotics. The antibiotics were upsetting her stomach when they were administered without food. DAH! I knew that but for some reason I had a major attack of stupid!!!
Moral of the story: unless otherwise directed, give food and oral antibiotics very close together in time so a cat's stomach is not upset.
And now, I will go stand in the corner for the rest of the afternoon after I apologize again to Maggie.
