Ok I'm now officially moving to the co-op I purchased in a 55plus community in Laguna Woods CA. It's got a ton of restrictions tho I've been an apt. dweller for so long I don't think I'll have any problem with that just hope that the coyotes aren't really going to be roaming around at night close by... that part scares me!

I've been having a hard time sleeping and having chest pain (anxiety) super bad re this move (and stomach pain and whatever else) tho am hoping that I'll like where I'm going and so will Lola and the cats. There's a vet not too far up the street from where I'll be living like about less than a mile I think. Hope this Vet is a good one.

I don't drive on the freeway and don't like to drive in new places so I think this is what is really scaring me more than anything~ I could have moved to a less expensive 55 plus place nearer by to here tho the surroundings reminded me so much of nursing home I couldn't bring myself to make this move yet. I may in the future if I can still do it and/or need to.

Most all of my good friends have moved away either to SF, LA, SD or somewhere like this so I said "I'm the last little piggy leaving home!"

Maria, so glad you are moving. It will be better once you're there. I too, get really bad anxiety. Try this website...

www.meditationoasis.com, and listen to the free meditations when your stomach starts to hurt. I find it really helps me. I like the one called "Simply Being" and I also listen to the one for "Deep Rest" before going to sleep and I'm out in about four minutes. ;) You'll have to post pics of your new place.

Good luck with the move! The 55+ thing sounds good to me. The last time I lived in apartments I had some obnoxious neighbors who blasted their stereo really loud all night long, all the time. Shouldn't be a problem for you!

I'm sitting here contemplating my upcoming move and I feel totally overwhelmed every time I think about it. So much stuff...

Good luck with your move!!
I'm sure once you are all settled, you will be
loving it there!

We sold our huge home and are living in a condo type home (more of a garden
home than condo...all one floor, with a yard, and only two units per building.
Best thing we ever did! Although there really isn't an age restriction, it's for
active adult living.....no kids.....
Most of us up here are retired...with the exception of a female doctor who lives alone...
and of course us who just retired this year... :D

I so love the freedom from having had to take care of almost 3000sq.ft.!!!
The condo is just under 1500 with an attached double garage...no basement, which I love!!!

We will need to see pictures once you are settled!!

Purrs,
Joan

Thanks~ I neglected to say that I'm going to have a bunionectomy and hammertoe surgery the end of May (May 31st) so will try to get place painted and new flooring put in the bedrooms before I move most stuff over there which is going to be I guess the end of June as I have to be off my feet for 2 weeks and then can't drive for 4 weeks. I just hope my back doesn't go out from gimping around for the first week..

I wouldn't even do the surgery now but I wanted to use this podiatrist I used to work with at a hospital in this city and have all my pre op and follow up stuff done while I'm still here since I don't drive on the freeway and couldn't even if I wanted to those 4 weeks (and that's hoping that all goes as planned with no complications/infection and such).

I did this surgery (bunionectomy) and hammertoe surgery on all toes on left foot years ago but my then surgeon passed away with an inoperable brain tumor at the age of 47. This surgeon I'll be using was his friend and collegue and we all knew each other for the last 20 years or so.

And yes I'm terribly tired of living in a neighborhood where there are just obnoxious deadbeats and crackheads roaming around seems like night and day. I have been ok with everything for quite some time here living in this downtown neighborhood tho as I've gotten older I feel less safe sometimes and I'm tired of feeling that way. I don't know where all these people get the $$ to live by the beach but I think there's a lot of government $$ going out to people that are supporting some questionable habits.

They say moving is one of the biggest stress in life, compared with divorce, marriage and death. I am like you , donot like to drive in big city or on huge roadways.
Once you get moved and settled in, things will calm down for you.Take it easy.. prayers for you up and coming surgeries..

Maria, I wish you all the luck in the world with the move. :D Your new house sounds great and feeling safe is such a big thing. I also wish you lots of luck with your operation and please take it easy afterwards. it's great that you know the surgeon and trust him, that will make all the difference. I can't wait to see some pix of your new house. X

Yes one thing I'm going to take advantage of in this 55plus living place with all sorts of amenities is to have someone help me post photos (they have a center with computer assistance so am hoping to learn a few new things)... maybe take a computer class as well!

Looking forward to getting the keys on Monday and doing final walk thru! ;)
