Ellen btw I like to call it "mentalpause" cuz I felt mental going thru it re hot flashes, night sweats, (that were so back to back it drove me nutz) and just my moods were all over the place. Actually getting thru that took me nearly 2 years. Calcium did help with some of the symptoms for me.. moodiness arggh that was a more difficult one as I felt like I had the mental mindset of someone with a chonic period! Hope your doc has some good recommendations. You might want to google some perimenopause/menopause websites and see what women recommend for the symtoms and ask your physician about things they recommend. Most physicians here (U.S.) don't know too much about things that are outside of the prescription pharmaceutical range (or for liability purposes don't want to know or comment) though female gynecologists and doctors treating symptoms of menopause may be more familiar with supplemental things that can be taken safely (and doctors working in naturopathic medicine tho they generally don't agree too much w/western medicine pharmaceutical prescription treatments).

I googled and the side effects are exactly like menopause. You could try rubbing soy cream on your stomach. It's absorbed through the skin and is said to help with the hot flashes and mood swings.

BTW you've every right to have a bit of a mood swing with what you've been going through this last year! I'm sure Stevie understands!

Ellen I'm sorry you are going through this right now. It probably is the medicine and lack of estrogen.
Estrogen is such a bothersome hormone. You can have too much or too little and each one causes mood swings.
Hugs to you and I hope it gets straightened out soon,.

Kira, Birgit, Karen, Maria, Barbara, Krys, Cherie, Cat, Ellie and Pat, thanks for the input (I feel a bit stupid writing everyones name but I really appreciate that you took the time to reply.) I am going to print this out and ask my oncologist about all your suggestions. Maria, I am on a bone med called Bondronat to try and keep my bones strong. I had to get 4 wisdom teeth removed before I started this and chemo because it stops gums healing. When I was having chemo I took Zometa in drip form. I know this is a chemical things that is making me moody but I feel like a stupid teenager. I haven't been too bad over the past few days, when I feel tention in my stomach I go for a walk. When I was taking Tamoxifen I had terrible hot flushes but I am not really getting it with Arimidex so that's one plus. I have one spot of cancer on my hip bone that is pretty sore at the moment but hopefully this will pass. ....it comes and goes. Thanks again for all the advice and I will be certainly bringing it up with my doctor. Menopause at 34, eshhhhh...that and cancer sure weren't part of my life plans. X

Dan, I SWEAR that menopause is worse than quitting smoking. I've done both and I'm betting you haven't
