Does anyone bathe their cats? I've heard different things about this. I have never done it myself, but I wonder if it would help to do it once in awhile.

If you ended up getting a Russian Blue, I don't think you should need to bathe it. It's a lot of work, but would be less work with a short haired RB. I bathe mine once a month

The majority of persian cat owners bath thier cats,
and blow dry them.
Show cats get done probably once a week, Dolly is just a
pet, but I still like to bath her at least every couple of months.

Mine get bathed once a month, but when I was showing my 3 Persians, they got bathed once a week. It was pretty time consuming but not unpleasant.

Bathing does helps to make grooming easier so it definitely is worth the effort.

Cats are fastidious groomers as we know, so short haired cats dont really require bathing -unless a particular need arises for it.
So,if you are getting a Russian Blue or other short-haired kitty.. it shouldnt be necessary.

Persians on the other hand have just so much coat that periodic bathing is quite commonly done.. either at home or at a groomers.
As mentioned, it's lot of work.. but has a lot of benefits.

It can be quite a challenge getting an adult cat to adjust to bathing... starting them off as kittens is really the way to go.

before I had Bluie I had short haired cats, I would bath them when needed. Bluie gets bathed every 3 or 4 months depending on the need, she is very good at grooming, sometimes we have an emergency one. If it is a kitten , then starting now is a good idea if future baths are needed, if an adult I would check to see if she or he has had baths before.. :paw:

Something that is very "funny" in a sense. I was a Registered Nurse, Nurse Practitioner for many years. What that means is beyond my 4 year RN degree I have a Master's Degree in Nursing.. yes for human health care. But can I bathe my Persians.. no.. they have rendered their opinion on that multiple times and their paws/claws have exceeded my desire to groom. If you're there... just find someone that does mboile grooming!
