This morning Mia didn't show up for breakfast. I found her and she was a bit lithargic(SP). Walked like it hurt. I looked her over and stuck to her bottom was the biggest turd I have ever seen. It wouldn't come off and she would scream when I touched it. THINK THINK!!!!! We jump in the shower, I sit on the edge of the tub with her on my lap and spray her bottom with the warm water, she isn't crying and the turds start to fall off. When it's all off I wrap her in a towel and take her to the bed and look her over. Her hole is the size of a quarter, the center is open with stuff dripping out. I trimmed the fur around her bum so it doesn't stick as bad and try to work out some of the knots on her legs (we might be looking at another "Chicken legs" haitcut).

It's been 9 hours and she is hiding. I pulled her out and her bum doesn't look any better. I called the vet and waiting for a call back.

Is the serious enough for the ER Vet and their $$$$$$. Is there something I can do until the Vet calls back?

Wow that does not sound good...for her anus to be the size of a quarter?! Sounds painful for sure. I hope you hear something soon but if you don't I don't think that is something that should go overnight...just due to the poor cat being in so much obvious pain.

Oh Rhona, I am sorry. Awful when something happens on a weekend.
Two of our cats got anal abcesses. They were treated with anitbiotics and with time they were fine.

How is she doing now?
Let us know.
Hugs
Paula

I'm hoping that the vet has called back by now. (Fingers crossed everything is okay.)

The closest I've come to this problem is a cat who was constipated and passing a huge fecal ball. Part of it came out and part of it stayed in with the anus not closing. Like you, it was Saturday. Since I felt I knew what the problem was, I gave her a small, warm enema, which help moved the remaining piece out and relaxed the sphincter.

Like Jen said, this is not something you want to wait until Monday morning to take care of.

Still no call from the vet. I left 3 messages on 3 phones. (I'm going to bet Amandas on call). Mia has perked up a bit, she was kissing Cheshire a few minutes ago. Her bum isn't quite as puffed up, but there is a white bulbus thing in the hole and it doesn't seem to be leaking as much.

I hate oncall vets who never call back. :evil:You might want to try calling the emergency vet facility and talking to someone there. I've done that a couple of times and often I will get a sympathetic vet tech. They may be able to tell you whether or not to bring her in rather than wait for your normal vet.

Btw, could Mia have eating something that's whitish and causing an obstruction?

Mia is eating, playing and acting normal in every way, except she still has this white bulbus thing in the center of her anus that is bout the size of a nickel how.

I checked, and the cell phone on call this weekend is Amandas, the Vet Tech. All I needed was answers and reasurance.

When I brushed her last Thursdayish I don't remember seeing all these knots and mats on her back end, there are 2 that I'm really having a hard time with... I've been lax about brushing her but I didn't realize I was this bad about it :(
