Cats Don't Like Drafty Windows
by Pam Johnson-Bennett, CABC, Cat Behavior Associates
Many cats love sitting at the window to watch the world outside. As colder weather is approaching, many of those favorite perching spots will become cold and drafty. For elderly cats who love sunning themselves, the sudden offensive draft is uncomfortable and can aggravate arthritis. Check your windows for air leaks. In addition to weather-proofing that can be installed over the windows, consider a padded window perch to make kitty m ore comfortable. For elderly kitties, a heated window perch would really hit the spot! Don't use a heating pad designed for humans because the temperature could accidentally be set too high. Headed perches and beds designed for pets warm up to just the right temperature.
