it is a very difficult decision to make as our parents get older, but I feel you made the right one, you were only trying to help your mom, my mom got that way, she did not realize she was having a problem,, she thought like yours, she was acting like she had all her life. If the doctors do not know they cannot not help. I know at 66 the day will come my children will have to make these decisions.. but of course, I have always acted the way I am..you love your mom very much, that is why you take the extra step to see she gets the help she need. Virtual hugs dear as this is one of life's huge challenges for both you and your Mom. It might help to get some counseling for yourself or be involved in a support group fe your Mom's cancer to help you a bit more. I hope you're not offended by this suggestion.

Not at all! My son is ADHD and I was so grateful to a group that I found local to us where I could talk to other parents having the same or similar issues with the child and even the other parents and grandparents not present in that child's life 24/7 -- it really does help.
