So my guy friend bought me a glorious green Omega Paw Rock and Roll litter box. Just perfect for little Oscar and green in his colors because he knows how much I love Oscar. I cried when I got it because no one had ever given me such a perfect gift and I really needed a new one after crazy land lady biffed out Oscar's old one. So poor Oscar had to use the yucky tupperware bin the other cat uses. The other cat just destroys them and has gone through several since I've been here. Before I could get it out of her site because I wasn't even going to put it together before I moved :( because I am moving to a nice place for January. She saw it and insisted on our two cats sharing it. I should have realized this was not a good idea. But I agreed.
Needless to say it's awful guys.
How do I strip it? Do I hose it off, scrub it with bleach HELP!

Well, obviously, dump all the litter out and start fresh every couple of weeks. And then spray it down with a bleach mixture. Don't go full bleach, like 1 part bleach to 8 parts water is what I do. Then rinse it out with water again and you're good to go.

yes, dump out all old product, soak it or hose it good, use bleach and water on it, then rinse well as they don't like the smell. use rubber or plastic gloves.. then make sure to remove or solid waste every day, depending on the litter you use and how many cats use it, change the litter when it appears to have enough wee in it.. cats hate the dirty smell.

Every two weeks, I empty the litter box entirely and wash it with dish detergent (Dawn). I rinse it twice. I then put enough bleach in to cover the bottom and slosh it around a bit so it sloshes the area to the height of the litter. I add lots of water to the bleach and rinse the entire box with the bleach and water mix. Then I rinse it twice with water and dry it. It is then ready to refill with litter.

My litter boxes (I have four for my two cats) are large bins with fairly high sides -- except for one which is about the height of a dish pan. I rotate their cleaning over the two week cycle. I get no complaints.

I dump the litter out then wipe it with clorox disinfectant wet wipes then I rinse it down really good with water. For one that has been really messed up tho is in very good condition and I still want to use it I have taken it to the car wash with me and used the high power rinse on it! I know that sounds a bit extreme tho it's actually a great place to get super high powered good wash done. The other thing is if you have one of the hand held steam cleaning machines they are great too for cleaning without using detergents.

Just a thought, but why not put the nice new one away until you move in January? No sense is letting it get wrecked. ;)

Like I said...warm water and soap...I have never heard of a cat "destroying" a litter pan...even when i had 3 kittens all with worms..poo and pee are stinky but pretty easily cleaned off of plastic.

When I had 3 cats one of them (maybe more than one) was scratching some interesting grooves into the plastic. Guess it was a lesser grade material box and good nail care can keep that type of thing from happening most likely tho I know you're dealing with someone else's cat too so respective owners should be responsible for their pet's nail care.

What will she do when you're gone re a kitty litter box for her own? I'd probably go buy an inexpensive one and tie a big bow (Merry Christmas) on it if not feeling comfortable saying "no" for any reason.
