Hey guys,

Does anyone here play a Djembe drum? Stevie and I really want to learn how to play and have been researching them all day. It's so hard to know which one to buy, I would rather invest in a good one.

This is my favourite so far, have a listen to the sound bite :D

I think it will be very relaxing and healing to play. :D :D

I have heard them did not know what they are called. That would be so fun to learn.

:D : I love it and love the African drums.

 I am on my way to an African restaurant at the Animal Kingdom area. It's real authentic and the drum music is all around. Funny you should post this today.
:? I'm not fond of the menu since I don't eat lamb and some of the other things are so strange. They have great spices, ect, but I love the atmosphere there and will find something.
That drum would be nice to have at your home.
:D

Pat, Ellie and Cat....still haven't picked one  problem is not all of them have sound bites. I kinda want to hear it before I buy it, hmmmmmmmmm
Ellie, that restaurant sounds AMAZING, I hope you had a great night....I would love the lamb, love trying new food. I think you should get some too, maybe someday we can jam together.
I too think the drums have a fantastic sound, can't wait to get them. :D

We were walking in downtown Halifax one
summer, and we could hear all this drumming.
Followed the sound, and there was this group, must
have been at least 30 to 40 of them, all dressed in white,
mostly mature adults, putting on a show in one of the courtyards
of the historic buildings.
The sound was fantastic...sent chills down your spine...all accustic..nothing
plugged in.
I'm not sure what you would call their drumming, it certainly wasn't militarty...and
there were all sorts of different drums. I wouldn't be surprised if there were some
of those Djembe drums amonst.

I think these groups are called Drum Circles

There are a few folk into drumming here, it's fantastic
something primal I guess. Go for it, I'm sure you'll
enjoy drumming, sorry I have no idea which would
be a better drum.

Joan, I bet that sounded AMAZING. I have never seen a big acoustic drum band but I think it would be very moving. Stevie is still looking into different types of which there are maaaaaaany. I am buying him his drum for his birthday in June, an early pressie. Mary like you say, it is time to get primal :D :D :D The cats are going to hate this new hobbie. :D :D

Well, during the meal a group of African men came around and played their drums! Great sound.
No lamb for me. I had Tandoroori Chicken, a salad plate : watermelon, lime and radish and one of chickpeas and cucumber and tomatoes. Very good.

Hope you can find the sound of your drum choice. :D
