Yesterday, Emily had her surgery and it went very well. She is now resting comfortably in our motel room. I am amazed at how natural her nose looks and she is breathing without wheezing and gasping for breath. It really is a miracle how much better she looks and how much better she is breathing. She does act a bit tired and has been sleeping most of the day.

Yesterday morning my hubby took her to the vet at about 9 AM and picked her up just after noon. She slept the rest of the day but was awake and playful by bed time, last night. I think in a week's time, her little nose will look completely normal but right now there is a tiny bit of swelling and a little tenderness just inside her nostrils. We have to watch and make sure if scabbing forms, it doesn't block the nares by simply applying a warm and wet tissue to the scab. BTW, this surgery was done with a laser and is the ONLY way I wanted it done.

However, I think it is important to have a vet do this procedure who has done it many, many times. The vet who took care of Emily has done several kitties and is truly an artist. I am going to place her name, address, and phone number in this post. I highly recommend her even if anybody has to drive or fly long distances.

ETA: I want to add that if you fly into Portland, Springfield is just a 2 hour drive straight south and it is interstate driving all the way. Springfield is part of Eugene.

I'm glad things went so well for Emily. And I'll keep the vet in mind if I ever get a kitty that needs a nose job!

Out of curiosity, do you have any before and after photos of her nose?

Linda, I thought of that too late but I think some of the photos I have posted in here may show her tiny nose. I will get a close up picture of her in a couple of days. I hate to bug her right now.

Joe, thanks for your encouraging words about Peaches. I kept remember what you said and I was much less nervous about the whole thing.

Kira, I thought about you and Chunky. I sure would take him for a consultation if you are the least bit worried about him. It sure has given Emily a better quality of life and the whole process was so easy.

You guys missed me? Thanks so much for saying that. I pretty much feel ignored around here.

I'm glad to hear how well Emily is doing post op nares enlargement. Was this done w/lasers surgery?

I really wish Winston would have been able to have this surgery but he wasn't considered a good surgical candidate by the time I found out it was even offered. I'm sure his quality of life could have been much better.

I am so glad things went to plan with Emily, it must be such a relief for her. :D
WW seems to seems to have trouble breathing sometimes and his nostrils are good size, must be a real struggle if they are teeny tiny.
I really want to see pix of your two stunning babies. You know I am a big fan of Emily and Bonnie :D :D :D

I am glad it went well and yes the improvement is immediate. She may get a little stuffy if the swelling increases or there are scabs but it resolves quickly.

Linda it would be better if she waited until the healing is complete, right now it is probably swollen and not how it will be when healed. Actually Sparky had hers done twice and I think it would be difficult to see any change, the amount they remove is very tiny, they can only take so much.

My sister lives in Eugene and there is a very nice international airport there.
