I finally got these together to post.
First is Jacks:
Pam Bassett: 4th Best Long Hair Specialty
7th Best All Breed
Loretta Baugh: 4th Best All Breed
Gene Darrah: 6th Best All Breed
Hope Gonano: 10th Best Breed
Jan Rogers: 5th Best All Breed
Sharon Roy: 6th Best Long Hair Specialty
Peter Vanwonterghem: 6th Best Long Hair Specialty
Russell Webb: 4th Best All Breed
Gary Veach: 9th Best Long Hair Specialty
Iris Zinck: 5th Best All Breed

This one is Camies:
John Colilla: 2nd Best Long Hair
3rd Best All Breed

I did find out that there is a cat from Europe who is ahead of Jack by quite a bit for the best silver and golden premier in the world this year. Jack has been #1 in that category for 2 years now. The person who told me expected me to be upset but the way I think, Jack has had his turn. As I told her, that cat is out every weekend at the shows - Dixieland was Jacks first show since August so there is no way can we compete even if Jack was the better cat, which I doubt knowing the other breeders reputation.

Congrats Lynda!!! On Jack's and Camie's wonderful achievements.

As for this lady... well, I discovered during the years of showing here, that sometimes people just need to feel that they 'beat someone' even though the other person/breeder is completely not competing. Sometimes they even feel that if you are 'bitter' about a loss their win is worth more somehow. I guess these type of people have been taught by their parents as children that there are only 'Win-Lose' situations in life, while there is no 'Win-Win' or good sportsmanship to be had.

I have no idea why is that, and it's a pity really, as we should all rejoice in each other's achievements. But... if that happens and that one person is happy just because they 'beat me' I am actually happy for them. After all... that makes me 'the one to beat' right? Which is a very honorable place to be.

I think you should be very proud that after two years Jack is still 'the one to beat'! And really... get off the podium already!! Leave some spotlight for the rest of us will ya?

Just kidding of course. Keep up the good work. By the way, how far is jack from his Grand of Distinction?

I know what you mean, Alon. This person is NOT one of the nice people in the fancy. She seems to enjoy stirring up trouble. I am polite to her, but don't encourage her.
Jack has 19 rings so far this season, but I haven't figured the split between all breed and specialty rings. He needs at least 20 all breed rings to fulfill the second years requirements. One more year (if he makes it this year) of worrying about it. It is getting more difficult because the shows seem to be moving away - most would require a hotel stay now and I just can't afford that very often. There is one I would love to do next month, but it is almost 4 and a half hours NORTH of me in bad snow country. Not a drive I really want to make in January. A friend did it a few years ago and her car went off the road and down the mountain due to weather conditions. She and her cats were okay but the car was totaled. I have been spooked about that show since.

Yikes, that drive and story sound very scary. I would probably not do that.

I am willing to go a long way for a show... but no cat show is worth my life.

Anyway, good luck achieving this goal. I am sure you and Jack can do it!

I don't understand the points and all in cat shows but it sounds like you did have a good weekend. I wouldn't make that drive either

As for sportsmenship, that is why I got away from showing our dogs... I went in expecting to enjoy it and congratulated those who won over us, I was happy for them. However when we won the nastiness and hostility convinced me this isn't something I need in my life.

Be careful Lynda if you travel.
