Welcome. My Garfield makes a vain attempt at covering but all he does is scratch at the side of the litter box so nothing gets covered.

You will find a lot of wonderful people here who are always willing to give you advice, laugh with you and cry with you.

Good luck with Eugene.

Thanks everyone for the responses sorry it has taken me a while to get back but after reading everyone's advice I kept a close eye and Eugene and just gave in and went to the vet today..I knew something was wrong! He has an Upper Respiratory Infection, the vet said it wasn't a huge deal and put him on some antibiotics and even shaved his tail down a little bit! So hopefully he will be feeling better soon! I appreciate everyone's reply's...without them I wouldn't have known what warning signs to look for! One more question...I figured here would provide me with the best answers...do I need to keep my older cat seperated from Eugene while hes recovering? She's never been sick, not even so much as a runny nose or anything like that, but if I need to or she could be at risk for catching it then I'll take her to my parents house for a few days while Eugene is getting better...I just joined photo bucket..so lets see if I can try to upload some pictures! (Mind you he does have an infection so hes not ALWAYS that goopy :) )
One of them is side ways.. anyways thanks again for the help and thanks in advance for the help with this!

Yes, your other cat is at risk of catching something from Eugene. (Or Eugene caught something from her. A cat can carry a cold without symptoms.) Honestly, if Eugene has been around your other cat already, I would guess your other cat was already exposed. Isolation at this point would be marginally useful to prevent the transfer. (You would have to sterilize all places Eugene was, plus all your clothing.)

Just keep an eye on the other cat -- nasal discharge, not eating, maybe difficulty breathing -- and it's a trip to the vet.

Did Eugene come from a shelter? I think it is pretty common for kitties to have URIs after coming home from a shelter. He should be cleared up in no time with the antibiotics, but give him a gentle hug from us!

You have a beautiful kitty family! They are simply stunning! And it looks like his fur is in good shape, and I don't think his eyes look bad at all! The best tip I can give you on the eyes, is to be diligent. If you stay on top of them, they will never get bad. I try to never miss a day of wiping Puffy's.

Thanks for posting pics!!

welcome to you and your kitty, persians are great. One thing you can do with his rear area if it gets a bit poopy - do not try to wet it and wipe it clean, as you will just smear it all into the fur, if you use some baby powder, and powder the area, and then comb it, you will find the powder binds to the poops, and it will all comb out nice and easily, and also the baby powder will then have it smelling a whole lot nicer!!! A bit of apple cider vinegar (I use about 2 caps to 2 litres), will also help change the PH and so make the staining a lot less vivid - I have 2 bicolours and a van, who otherwise get the very dark red staining on their lovely white fur, but yes, daily (or even twice daily), wiping the eyes with a makeup remover pad it the norm in our house. Plus all the cute little snorts and snuffles

I have Chloe (my older cat) and Eugene isolated now. Eugene was not from a shelter he was actually a Birthday/Christmas gift from my boyfriend because I have been wanting a "smushed face" kitten for over a year now! And while I am so happy with him, and especially with the way him and Chloe are getting along...they can barely stand to be away from each other :) My boyfriend paid a decent amount of money for Eugene from a local breeder, and I took Chloe to the vet for a checkup about 3 days before we picked Eugene up to make sure she didn't have anything that a kitten would be more susceptible to and she was in perfect health. After we left the vet with Eugene last week we also received a call that he had roundworm. I know these are probably common kitten infections, and am aware both of them are not life threatening, but is it wrong to think that the breeder should have noticed/treated/or at least given us a heads up about these things? The household also has about 20+ cats that are residents there so I would imagine Eugene was not the only kitten/cat in the household that was having these issues.
