Oh gosh I am just so happy! I have been worried for sometime about this since Jasee started drinking and urinating a bit more at times. Well I just talked to the vet and it's great! She said his urinalysis is perfect, his bloodwork is excellent! No elevated levels of anything! The only thing she noticed when we were there was he had some stool in his colon so it could be a possibility he is suffering from some constipation. Which for me is easy to handle since I cured him from that many years ago! She said that could be why he will go on the floor from time to time. So I am going to start giving him the pumpkin again so he has a good fiber. She also told me to check the salt content in any of his food, which I use a vitamin mix so I will call Halo to find out about that.

The only other thing is his teeth on the right side, they are pretty bad. She isn't one to push any services including vaccines which I refuse to do anymore, that's why I love her. This is a dilemma for me as I dont want any harm to come to him from it and I just purchased a natural, holistic spray to try to clean them some, but at his age I worry putting him under anesthesia and I have heard of some cats that get really sick after a teeth cleaning and even worse. So I will have to put some thought into this.

Thanks everyone for your prayers, they really work!!!!! Now if I could only get my own life in order, lol!!

great news, Karyn! I know dental care is something that is important, but I am nervous about it, too. I have had 4 cats over the years have to have dental work done and of those, 1 lived a normal life until she was 14, 1 died suddenly 6 weeks after the procedure, 1 suffered brain damage as a result of the anesthesia, and the other was fine but now has problems again and probably wouldn't live through the procedure again, so we agreed to keep an eye on him and see what happens over the next few months. There's food out there for oral care, so maybe that's an option for Jasee?

Yes see that is what I worry about. I have heard horrific stories of problems after cleaning and/or extractions. I will look into the food too. You know he eats primarily raw which shouldn't be a problem on his teeth but for many years I free fed him dry as well, let me just say dry doesn't clean teeth like some people try to claim! So even though he doesn't eat much dry anymore, well it affected his teeth while he did. I got this spray as well so maybe if I can get some of the plaque off it can help. Thanks for the info on this, I will definitely do what I can to get this better on my own!

Glad to hear some good news for Jasee. I am afraid dentals too since Sparky is older. They wanted to do one a while back and I said no. Our vet then recommended other stuff so I felt better about saying no.
We have an Oxyfresh Pet Gel that they gave us to rub on the gums. It's a soothing gel to condition, heal and deodorize the teeth. :);)

Terrific news!!!

As for the dental dilemma, if it's only tartar, you can clean that without anesthetic. If Jasee has bad teeth which need pulling, that really can't fixed except by knocking him out. Despite the horror stories, I've had dentals done on a 12 year old, an 11 year old, and a 16 year old and have never had a complication. The last one had several bad teeth which caused her to stop eating. So it was either extractions or she'd starve to death. (She died of a stroke at 19.5 years.) I've also had dental done on younger cats, without problems.

I think the major difference is my vet uses the minimum amount of anesthetic possible to start the procedure. If she then sees teeth have to be extracted, then she puts them under slightly deeper. Also, for any cat over 10y/o, she flushes their system of the anesthetic with fluids.
