I'm the mother of a beautiful 1 year old Persian kitten, Spooky Bear. I was here briefly almost a year ago...right before I had officially adopted him. My breeder told me about this website.

I have a question for the experts. I have searched high and low through google, whitepages.com, yellowpages.com, etc to find an in-home groomer. I've seen these grooming trucks that come to you but they only do dogs. I don't see any high-end services that cater to cats, or more specifically, Persians. I live in a very large city so I would think services like this MUST be available...especially in our troubling economy. Is there a website for those-in-the-know that offers services like this? I do have one groomer nearby but they're extremely unreliable, timewise, and every time we go, it turns into an all-day situation. I'd much prefer someone who comes into my home with all their grooming supplies, blow dryers, etc...

Thanks in advance! :flower:

belle, if I were you, I would call Tracy. I'm sure she will help you or know someone who could.

Those "at home" groomers probably only advertize doggie grooming,
as not a whole lot of people do cat grooming because of how diffcult
they can be regarding water, etc.
But you could call and ask...maybe one of them will do cats, or have
experience in cats, but don't really advertize that part of thier sevices
due to lack of requests?
A call certainly can't hurt....

I found my groomer (does only cats) through a recommendation from my vet clinic. I also found my catsitter through them.

Honestly am not sure if calling Tracy will help but is worth a shot. As a breeder, exhibitor myself, I do all my grooming so don't know anyone to really send anyone too....or didn't at one time. Now I have a friend who is a groomer, that I met through another buyer, and I call on her for situations that require more than one set of hands...but those are rare occassions. I would suggest talking with your vet and see what direction they can give you. Also check your local phone book...we have a lady here who does ONLY cat grooming and boarding. They do exist but are just rare. And like Joan suggested, call and ask as well. You might be surprised.

Belle, I found this on Tracy's site:

"Anyone who has any grooming issues with a Persian they have bought from me is welcome to email me and politely go over them. I am always willing to walk you through the proper steps and train you to properly maintain your Persian so you can keep him in the lovely coat that you bought him in."

Also...

"Rare Earth does offer Grooming Services for a fee to anyone within a reasonable driving distance of my home. You will be charged for my gas to and from your house. I also offer Grooming Lessons for a fee to anyone who is within driving distance who would like to see a Show bath first hand, look at the tools I use and receive detailed instruction on exactly how to groom their show cat. Email me directly for more information on these Services."

I still think it would be worth a call to her as I know she really cares about her kitties.

As a rare earth baby, she should be accustomed to a bath. Do you not like to groom her yourself?

Absolutly! I had no idea that Tracy offered these GREAT services! Hopefully you are close enough to take advantage. I certainly didn't mean NOT contact her as I know she would be helpful...but cat groomers are hard to find and by grooming our own we are not aware of any most of the time. That is all I meant.

Heather, you are so right! Here in my little town I don't think there are any kitty groomers. Well...except for Bonnie's vet. But in Houston, there should be at least one.

Sadly, where I live (Montana) it is a dog's world and kitties are second class citizens. I only know of one Persian breeder in the entire state and I don't think there are any cat shows here, either. Now, when I lived in Dallas and San Antonio, it was a whole 'nuther story.
