apparently this is a newer treatment and they have had good results with it. i am mixing two drugs and applying down the ear canal. Myconazole is the antifungal, not sure what the steroid is.

yes the new vet was concerned about applying liquid down that ear, which contributed to the consult with others.

meh. still the same. eating, sleeping, playing, not jumping, head tilty.

keeping that medicine in her ear is gonna be tricky. she tries to shake it out.

tomorrow is booster and rabies day. then i am done with that old vet. I'm rather crestfallen cause he was my go to guy for a long time. but it makes sense to get them seen where they will be groomed and it's only 6 blocks from home.

Please be careful with the rabies shot. Vets usually won't give rabies shots during antibiotics, I would strongly caution against this. Her immune system is already down and it could make her very, very sick.

DO NOT DO THE RABIES AND BOOSTERS TOMORROW!!!

Her immune system is under attack from the ear infections and does not need more stuff to handle! Vaccines, especially the rabies and ESPECIALLY in combinations, are extremely hard on a compromised immune system. Period. There is no debate on this. I have known people who had their cats vaccinated while sick and have the cat get a serious of immune problems, culmimating 1-2 years later as IBD/IBS or severe allergies, which are autoimmune diseases.

A good vet should not give any vaccines to a sick animal, especially one on antibiotics and/or steriods. ALL the inserts on vaccines say do not vaccinate sick or underweight animals.

Dan Linda is absolutely correct. She does not need the vaccines right now, she is not at risk waiting and good vets won't give them to an ill animal. Even the mfg says not to administer to a sick animal. Angel is not a strong kitty as it is and this could cause serious issues.

I hope you forgoe this for the time being until she is well, her little body is already directing all of its energy to survival and healing.

I agree w/the above statements regarding giving an already compromised kitten vaccines at this time. It is also true for human medicine. You do not give a sick child or individual vaccinations while being treated for infection w/antibiotics because there is already a compromise of the normal health status and also if the vaccinations were to cause any problems such as allergy or reaction it may be more difficult to tell because of being concurrently treated with a/b's.

So best to wait until AngelPuss's treatment with the a/b's are over and she has gotten a good and clear bill of health.
