DH and I were wondering how long it takes for the cats hair to grow back. We adopted a Himalayan "Scruffy Marie" and they shaved her because she was so matted.

Her legs are really matted and I hope to be able to comb them out in a few days. Part of her tail was also shaved, I was able to get some mats out yesterday, but I am going to give her a break, she's been through a lot.

Good for you for adopting Tails seem to take a longer time to
grow in, and mostly we do try if we can to avoid shaving them
(not always possible). Seems to me the body fur grows in
pretty quickly a couple of months should have her
looking regal once more.

In my experience...the coat is nice at about 2 months!!
Both my girls hair grows like weeds...so I get them lioncut every 6 months!

When I had to take Oliver in due to his becoming blocked, they shaved both front paws and his belly and tail. The paws took a few months to grow back to what they were before. Same with his belly. the tail took much longer. It has been over a year now and he is beautiful as ever! he sure gets furry in the winter and has such a beautiful mane. He is starting to shed more now and I could comb him twice a day easily. In fact, i see some fur that needs to be combed off now!!!

Thanks. I have noticed that she doesn't like to be groomed right now, I am assuming that it's because she doesn't trust me yet. I have managed to comb the mats out of her tail, I am now trying to work on her hind legs, but she keeps biting me. I don't want to have to shave them, so I am going to keep attempting the grooming.
