Hey, guys! I'm having my students do a project and they are a bit lost. So I'm going to do an example of the project tonight. I have a topic, I have some data, but I need more data. The project is a linear regression of age of cat versus vet cost in the last 12 months. (Surprise, it's on cats!!!)

So, if you wouldn't mind telling me the name, age, and vet bills (in 12 months) for your cat(s), I would appreciate it. PM me or post it here. I just kind of need the data by tomorrow morning (8:30 am PST) latest.

Elvis, THE King - 6 years old - $50.00 rabies and annual checkup

Well I have only had Persia for a few weeks - so not sure if this will be of any help to you!
PERSIA - age unknown (anywhere from 3-6y/o, according to vet's "guess") - Vet Bill in 3 weeks $335 (for nose job, teeth cleaning and extraction, health screening, skin medication, fecal sample?)

it is not the last 12 months but the 12 months before.

Talia....2years old.......450.00
Emma.....unknown age but lets say 7 years old........376.00
Mia.....1 year old.......225.00

My cats had to start out with a series of shots....so I am sure that is why the cost was higher. plus 2 of them got fixed.

Amy you do create an interesting problem -- you haven't had Persia a year so what to do? That should spart some interesting discussion with my students.

Well lets see, it has been a pretty good year for the cats

Sparky about $1,000 bladder infection and eye problems from herpes. Cheap year for her

Lani $ 2,500 ultrasounds (2) IBD dental, fluids and ER visits, maybe more

They are 6 next month.

Also, the rate I paid was a discounted one that was given to her rescue center (but we paid). She also had other stuff done 3 months ago when they got her - including shots, skin medication and she got spayed and flea medication. So that would easily add another few hundred? I don't think she was ever taken care of from her previous owner because she was in such bad shape. Not sure if she ever had shots done in her early years. Wish we knew her actual age - or at least close to it! A 3-6 year age range is a big difference. She acts like she's 1, so I have a HUGE feeling she is much younger.

Muffins - 6 years old - $1400 and most of that was her emergency vet visit last summer.

Nannerpuss - 3years old - $400? I'm estimating since I am sure she has been for UTI in the last year and she has to have special food.

Gordon - 2.5 years old - $0.

Moral of teh story. Snatch a cat from the outdoors. They know how to stay healthy.

Well, I dont do annual vacs for my cats at their age now.. but this bring to note that a general checkup is overdue.
Two of my cats have been healthy and issue-free.. so havent been to the vet in the last 12 months.

The 12 months prior inolved dentals and assorted other visits... and would estimate vet costs to be approx. $500 each.
