Well, tomorrow is the big day -- Maggie goes back to the eye vet and then we get the news about the graft. After everything she's been through and the disappointments, I'm almost afraid to be hopeful. Then again, I don't like the alternative of having the eye removed. The worst scenario is no information one way or another so we are in limbo for another week.

I'm a nervous wreck and haven't done anything all day except give her eye drops and play computer games. I'm trying to remain upbeat, but I'm scared for her. I just want her to be happy and spoiled with one eye so she can chase the boys around. I know blind cats can be happy but given how depressed she was after this last operation, she may not adjust quickly or well. I'm also scared about the trip there and back -- rain in southern California is a disaster and she was very upset last time in a car.

I know in some respects what is done is done and things can't be changed at this point, but if you could keep her in your thoughts tonight and tomorrow, I'd be grateful.

Linda, at long last Maggie is loved. I hope, as you do, that she will get a good report and be able to see after all this, but no matter what, you have given a far greater gift than sight -- you have given her a home full of kindness.

I'll say a extra prayer for Maggie and for you. :flower:You both are in them each day already.

Linda I can understand how you are feeling, it seems she is seeing now so keep the faith and hope that it works. Both of you deserve a break here. Hugs and prayers from me too.

We just got home and my fear of "being in limbo" has come true. :(

The graft is vascularizing well, although the veins have not reached the bottom part of the graft. It was the bottom of the other graft that didn't vascularize quick enough before the tissue broke down. The veins have made it further than last time and in a shorter amount of time, but they still aren't all the way. This may take another 3-4 days. The other graft failed at 10 days. This one is at 7 days, so it's a race the way I see it. :?

In the meantime, the eye antibiotics and dilators have been reduced, the prednisone is gone, the antiviral is gone, but she's back on clavamox. The vet is mildly concerned about an infection setting in since it's not vascularized fully. :?

The stitches and cone remain. :(

So, hubby and I decided this means Maggie is doing well but she's not out of woods yet. Privately, I translate this into another week of worrying! In any case, we have an appointment for next Wednesday.

I'm sorry you're still in limbo, there's nothing worse than not knowing one way or the other :flower:

I pray it will be good news for Maggie on Wednesday

Good luck, I hope this time you get past the danger point and she heals well, fingers, toes and paws crossed.
