Paula, Maggie is not one of the pics in my signature. I have posted photos of her head in the papurazzi section. Since she's so thin (emaciated), I don't want to shock people with photos of her body. :)And now with the stitches, swelling, discoloring, and half shaved head, even head shots will look horrible. :(

But we still love Maggie, because her spirit is just so beautiful and precious.

And she is eating!!! (Yes, I'm obsessed with her eating, but it took a lot of hard work and syringe feeding to get her to 3.840 lbs, so I don't want her to lose too much ground because of this surgery.)

Good news!! I still wonder if her eye being in pain is what caused her not to eat before. Poor thing! Hoping she makes it to 5# by Christmas! :)

I know all about obsession with eating, been there done that and it is a worry. I hope she continues to eat and get well. I wonder if she had a sequestrum or uvevitis (spelling) that is what we keep watching Sparky for and why I go into overdrive if her eye looks even a little off. I know, I am paranoid :oops:I thought animals were supposed to relax us, but it seems it is one worry after another sometimes :roll:Get well Maggie.

Them not eating or drinking is sooooooooooooo stressful. I have only had it happen with 1 cat and that was only a couple days. I can't even imagine what you are going through. But, it is so wonderful that Maggie is doing better and how lucky she is that you stumbled upon her!

Linda, you are so wonderful to take such good care of this poor girl. Thank you for all you are doing! She couldn't have found a better momma.

Today wasn't as good as yesterday, unfortunately. I got her to eat a bit for breakfast, but hubby couldn't get her to eat anything while I was at work. She acted like she was in pain, so she got a 'happy' shot. She still wouldn't eat (pain, nausea, URI -- who knows) when I got home, so I syringed her. She didn't struggle, which is good because with the eye socket swollen and sore, I'm not sure where I'd hold her head.

5 lbs by Christmas? Hmm, we can do that.

Normally, the force-feeding isn't so stressful as I'd done it with 4 other cats for various reasons. (Stress is rated on the Linda-scale with 0 being normal day-to-day stress and 5 being OMG/"I forgot to breathe out for the last 5 minutes, no wonder my stomach/chest hurts" stress.) With Isabel, for example, I knew once her nose cleared up, she would eat. At 5-6 lbs, she was thin but if she didn't get enough calories today, she wouldn't die. Isabel would have been a 3.5. Now Maggie is in a whole other league! Definitely a 5. I don't have much if any wiggle room. (Once we get to 5 lbs, I'll semi-relax!) The other problem is my vet fully acknowledges that I know more about this food and feeding stuff than she does, so I have no one to turn to for help. Vets just don't often deal with 3 lb starved adult cats! (That's good until you need advice from a vet.)

Yep, Dianne, they say pets help us relax. I think, however, they were refering to pet rocks!
