WE were at the cottage over the weekend. I was outside transplanting flowers into the flower beds. I heard a thump , something hit the ground,I thought it was an acorn, I looked up, and saw what looked like a dusty moon stone, very smooth. I took a closer look thought it was one of those beetle shells, well, I had to pick it up to see, oh my God, I started yelling for John, it was a turtle hatchling, I thought he was dead at first, but as soon as I cover him with my hands his little feet tried to run . I took him or her inside and put it in water, he still has some belly button cord on him, some mean old bird was going to eat him. John, says, I would be the only person a turtle would fall out of the sky for..

Oh how sweet! I love turtles, frogs and Lizards.. Some of my favorite little critters. Seriously a bird had it and it fell? Wow lucky little turtle to still be alive. So glad you found it or it found you :D

the little turtles hatch out this time of year and run for the river, very few make it, and even then large fish or other turtles will eat them.

Aww, cute little baby turtle! It was so lucky to find you.

I've seen those nature shows that show what happens to most of the hatchlings. Only a few survive. Maybe this little one will get to live now. :D

Well that sure qualifies as an unique Mother's Day gift - a turtle falling from the sky! :) How sweet Pat! :flower: :flower: :flower:
So great you were there to rescue this little critter - I hope it does really well! :paw:
Let us know what you name her or him.
I'm not up on turtle care - is there a particular reason hand-washing is necessary? :?:
