Puffy and I just got back from the vet again. Her temperature was at 103.8 and she has conjunctivitis (an eye infection) but no scratch in it. I have to monitor her temperature rectally all night and if it gets over 104 take her to the emergency vet for IV fluids.

Please say a prayer for my sweet angel. I'm a total mess. She is eating and drinking just fine, but I want her to be well again.

Also, the vet really scared me by asking if she had been tested for FeLV and FIV... can she even have this? I am so scared for my girl. Aren't these life threatening viruses?

Oh no, poor Puffy and you, this is the last thing you needed to have to deal with. On a postive note it's good that she's been to the vet . I'm sure the treatment will help her heal , did you get eye drops? and you'll have Puffy back to normal very soon. Healing vibes and sandpaper kisses to her from us.

FeLV -- feline leukemia
FIV -- feline immunodefiency virus
I'll get some disagreements, but these two diseases are not life threatening. Both can be managed with proper nutrition and supplements. Cats with either can live fairly long, healthy lives. Personally, I doubt that she has either.

We are all praying for you and Puffy and Chunky.

I agree w/ Linda, I doubt she has either FeLv or FIV...

I did get the drops. She seems happy to be home. We've had about ten cookies and another dinner. I'm waiting to take her temperature a bit until she calms down.

We got antibiotic eye drops and she seemed to like them. The vet also recommended the 500mg of Lysine twice daily. She just got her Lysine as well. She's cleaning herself on the kitchen counter right now.

I'm glad to hear she is acting pretty normal. It's pretty easy to tell when they aren't feeling good.

I just took her temperature again and it is down to 102.2. It seems that maybe she was very stressed at the vet. Last time I took her in, her temperature was around 102 as well. Do you all think she will be ok to stay home alone tomorrow? My Mom freaked me out (I don't know why I even called her) and said I should bring her in to stay there for the day so they can watch her.

Personally, if her temperature has gone down that quickly, I don't want to stress her out more. I was not a fan of this vet at all. She is playing in her cardboard box with the hole for now.

I think 102 is about normal for a cat.. let me look it up on line.
