So my old clipper was starting to get tired of giving lion cuts..and it gets hot so fast that we have to take many breaks...and it just gets old. Plus it was kind of bad that I was using the same clipper to cut Johns hair as I used to clip the cats butts. LOL...so i set out on an internet hunt for a great clipper for the cats. Oster did not have much and not very good product description. So then I found this website...Andis grooming products. They had TONS of small animal clippers. TONS! Only problem was they were very pricey...but I looked through their site because they have ceramic blades...most the clippers you need to order the ceramic blade separate but that is 100% what I wanted since they stay very cool I have heard. So I searched around and started comparing prices to Amazon. Found that I could get an Andis clipper priced at $273 for $137 on Amazon....so I did that, along with a ceramic blade and their cool care spray...all from Amazon. I have that Amazon Prime free for 1 year using my .edu email address...if you have one...sign up for that...free 2 day shipping and 1 day shipping for 3.99!! I buy everything I can from Amazon now.

Anyways...my friend I told I spent $180 on cat clippers she thought I was nuts. Then I told her that for both my girls to get clips at a groomer would be $140...and I do it more than once a year. So then she understood. Plus after the incident we had with Muffins and her little claw I will never take them anywhere again for grooming.

These clippers are maintenance free it says you dont have to take them apart or oil them...I got the cool care stuff so that is supposed to disenfect them and all that....and it runs super quiet which is great because the cats just hate that noise I am sure...my old clippers were super loud. It also says they run super cool. Sounds amazing, I hope they are as good as they seem....because its that time! Getting nice out and both my girls are getting super furry and running away from the comb as much as ever...

Thanks for the info on the Andis clipper.

BTW I recently found a website that carries the Andis brand (and Wahl brand) clippers & parts. The Andis all looked to be fairly priced if Amazon isn't an option for someone. My cat also needs her belly shaved & I'm actually thinking about trying their Andis "Pro Animal Clipper" at $60. Their cust service said it would work on a persian coat but I'll have to do a bit more research first..

Also BTW if anyone's looking for a good static free comb, the 4th comb from the top was a real winner with my cat at under $5!! I wish I had gotten 2!

:D :D Make that triplets!

I had to airfreight Andis clippers and blades all the way from South Africa in emergency mode when I realised how unprepared I was with four Persians and NO GROOMER anywhere!

So far so good with a lion cut every so many weeks. Unfortunately did not get the cooling spray - next on my shopping list when I go back to SA.

Paula, I will not even try to give you advice on a lion cut..... My poor babies have progressed from 'mohawk" hairdo's, to half cuts to actual lion cuts over the last six months

The best and only tip : SHAVE VERY QUICK!!!!

Good luck

My only advice is get them in a small bathroom with you so there's noplace to go and just go for it. Give treats along the way. I'm lucky mine allow it. Nannerpuss is worse about it than muffins but they are both not too bad. Sometimes I do them
Both and they take turns so one gets a break.
