Two weeks, smoke free! :D

I have never done so much coughing in my life...
last night was actually the first night I didn't wake
up from coughing, and I'm not coughing this morning,so hope that is over with..
I do have a sinus infection though....not caused from not smoking, haha, something
that I was trying to self treat for a month or so now, and this weekend, it all became
much worse..so have an appointment tomorrow morning with my doctor.

On reflecting on why I started to smoke at the tender age of 19...it was to try and loose
10 pounds.....some friend said start smoking and you will loose the weight.. and like a fool..
Did it work? Hardly....by the time I reached 28 I joined Weight Watchers and lost 87
pounds....still smoked, but it was the diet and exercise that took the weight off.
And while still smoking, by the time I was 40, I managed to put 50 pounds of those lost 87
back on....So off to NutriSystem we go, loosing 40 pounds...and still smoking, and still smoking,
now in my 60's..need to loose the weight.....again.......

So...if anyone tells you to smoke to loose weight....don't beleive them, it's just not true...
calorie counting and exercise is where it's at......

Congratulations Joan, keep at it. I wish Jim would quit, he did once for 10 yrs. All of his uncles, his brother and his dad died of lung cancer and several of his best friends. I am a meanie, I won't let him smoke around the house, me, or the animals.

I'm proud of you. :flower:

I remember all the coughing and hacking I did after I quit this last time (almost 4 years ago)...and just walking across a parking lot liked to kill me but I never noticed it until I quit. It subsided but it took time.

I am so proud of you Joan. One day I will be brave enough to quit again and hopefully for good. Not everyone understands but I think we have to come to the mind set that "our friend" that we are so tore up about parting with...is really not "our friend". I think you understand what I mean. I'm just not there yet.

One day, soon, I hope to be where you are again!

Keep on keepin' on Joan -- you are doing great!!!!

Way to go Joan.

I tried smoking when I was in my early twenties, like you, to try and loose weight. Smoking did absolutely nothing for me, I don't think I even got through one pack. I am so glad that it wasn't for me.

We are all pulling for you, but as you know, one day at a time.

Congratulations Joan! 2 weeks is fantastic! I know I gained at least 20 lbs. when I quit. I started eating candy to substitute the habit. I even ate sugar-free candy but your appetite does increase. I think the coughing is a good thing. All the lungs are cleaning out. It is disgusting but healthy, You may experience dreams of smoking and even smell it. The smell is real. It comes from the lungs. I started to exercise but my back and hip hurt too much. I had to quit doing the Pilates. I was a big fan of this gal's DVDs:

I am now taking Raspberry Ketones (vitamin supplement). They seem to be a big help. Heard about them on Dr. Oz.

Keep at it. One day at a time. Yahooo!!! Congrats!!

Fantastic, Joan. This is a major accomplishment. When food starts to taste better again, it must be natural to want to snack a bit more. {{{ :heart: HUGS :heart: }}}
