2a.m.ish Alaska barfed on the bed.. not a lot but enough. She's keeping this food down better than the Friskies. Figures as it's more expensive!

Winston hasn't poo'd yet since we started the squash... he's awfully quiet and hardly eating now. Just the squash. Of course he's quiet until it's 4a.m. and then he gets his OWWWW on (that's what his yowl sounds like). I noticed he's urinating less as well. I think he's drinking less.. he's definately been sleeping/resting much more.

Ok he just now came sorta running in his little odd off gait manner so I could pet him. My baby boy

I would just give him a teaspoonful of the squash from now on. It's doing its job if he hasn't pooped yet, but it's easy to go the other way also, to constipation. :? Gotta find the perfect balance. Puffy loves it. She would eat the whole can if I let her. Who would ever think that cats like squash? May I ask - does Alaska eat very quickly? My two won't eat the Wellness tuna flavor for some reason. You could also try salmon flavors, but honestly, if she's doing better on this on, I would keep with it.

Glad to here that Winston is feeling a bit perkier!

Alaska does eat quickly. She doesn't usually vomit anytime near her feeds tho rather about 6 hours later ...

Winston was perky for about a minute and went back to resting. He's definately not drinking and/or peeing like his normal self.. Could it be that his tummy hurts from not pooping? I take him again for fluids tomorrow so hopefully that will help with "everything."

I have left the kibble out for him because I was afraid to give him the raw food too quickly or he might start pooping again all loose and gooey. If he doesn't go to the bathroom today should I give him raw food tomorrow? He's not eating any kibble at all and usually he knoshes on that off and on during the day.

I don't have any advice. He may just not feel well  Hugs, and let us know if he takes a pooper.

Thanks Kira. I feel like my widdle man isn't himself much of the time. It hurts.. I should stop posting this stuff tho I feel like you all are the only people that understand how intensely I feel about "my furkids." A neighbor told me last week to have him put down and went into a rant about me keeping Winston alive for myself.. I'm sure you can imagine the nice thoughts I'm thinking for this person that start with an f and end with you!

I understand. You will know when it's time. You are a good kitty Mom. People do not understand. Especially not cat people. Don't stop posting, we are here for you.

As for Alaska, if she's vomiting food 6 hours later, then that means the stomach isn't emptying out for one reason or another. It could be metabolic (such as pancreas) or it could be a physical obstruction (such as accumulated hair) or she's eating more than her digestion can handle. If she's vomiting just bile, that's not wonderful, but it's common in older cats, especially nibblers.

As for Winston, is he hydrated? This could be the problem or not.

If it is a physical obstruction, a vet should be able to feel it by palpating the cat. I took Humphrey in when he vomited bile one day and blood another. My vet even tried to show me how to do that -- palpate, I mean, not vomit bile and blood. Humphie had a well-filled intestine. I have caught him sucking back a hairball. I had him x-rayed just in case and it was indeed the case. He pooped shortly after he came home. But he wasn't otherwise sickly.

Update on the tuna feeds.. stopped them and got tuna n fish flavored better cat foods.. Wellness tuna flav and salmon flav and Avoderm one that Alaska loved the absolute best.. she likes the Wellness but started leaving the food chunks just like w/friskies (just really getting juice). She loved the avoderm cuz it had a more jelly like consistancy. She sometimes eats a little wet food and a little dry food tho sucked the avoderm right up!
No barf today (yet) it's 2a.m.tho anything can happen...

Winston did finally poop after his Winter squash feeds and it was well formed/not gooey or stinky.. I gave had given him a little canned food the Vet wants him on to firm stools tho he only eats a bit of that so started his raw food again today and some squash and will see how that goes. He's been kibble feeding again... just seems Winnie has very little energy anymore. Today he snuggled w/me again for a short period and that was sooo nice.

Alaska is patienty waiting for me to come to bed.. had a little wine earlier so fell asleep quite early after dinner on the sofa and been awake watching the "Blues Brothers"~ for the millionth time
